Liberal Daily Kos diarist calls for 'benevolent' Obama dictatorship
The Examiner ^ | November 9, 2012 | Joe Newby

In a diary posted Thursday at the left wing Daily Kos, Michael Alton Gottlieb called for Obama to rule the country as a "benevolent" dictator.

"The American Presidency is a de facto dictatorship," he wrote.

According to Gottlieb, the president "has unprecedented power of Fiat" and "literally has the power of life and death over every citizen in the nation."

So, in Gottlieb's view, the president should use that power for "good."

Echoing Michael Moore, Gottlieb says Obama should "lock up the bankers," without giving any reason why. Apparently, the fact that they work in a bank is reason enough for them to be stripped of their right to due process and tossed in jail.

"Reform the system. Forgive the debt. Reboot," he added. Unfortunately, the economy doesn't work that way, but it probably sounded good to Gottlieb at the time he wrote it.

He also called for Obama to unilaterally declare a national emergency, but doesn't say exactly why. He says America should "bring the troops home and the military-industrial-complex to heel."

Gottlieb seems to have forgotten the Executive Order signed by Obama that would spell out what could happen in such a declared national emergency. The order, signed in March, would effectively nationalize everything, including food, water and U.S. citizens...

By re-electing him you’ve already made him a dictator. Good luck making him be benevolent.

I like the idea. Particularly the "Reboot."

My "reboot" would include some shooting, but nothing Stalin would condemn... Stalin slaughtered 20,000,000, so perhaps Stalin wouldn't be a good metric, but it is one the Dims would understand. After all, 1 death is a tragedy, 1 million is a statistic.

benevolent...BENEVOLENT...

This is why socialism and marxism and all that dreamy bunch of dung doesn’t work. People who get power like that are never benevolent. It is a dam* fairy tale and I am tired of that frickin’ tale! Move to North Korea if that is how you want to live!

*scream*

These fools will never get it. The lefty trouble makers are always the first to be thrown in the Gulag when their own people come to power.

The Left always eats its own.

What imbeciles these slavish Obamatons are! Ass-clowns.

Their demigod is a defacto employee of the Banks, an amazing reality about which they are clearly blind.

Here in the U.S., the people elected Barack Obama in 2008 on the implicit promise that the politically dominant financial sector would be limited in some meaningful fashion. Instead, President Obama immediately nixed any meaningful reform.

Many will claim that Obama was stymied by a Republican Congress. But the primary policy framework Obama put in place -- the bailouts --took place during the transition and the immediate months after the election, when Obama had enormous leverage over the Bush administration and then a dominant Democratic Party in Congress. In fact, during the transition itself, Bush’s Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson offered a deal to Barney Frank, to force banks to write down mortgages and stem foreclosures if Barney would speed up the release of TARP money. Paulson demanded, as a condition of the deal, that Obama sign off on it. Barney said fine, but to his surprise, the incoming president vetoed the deal.

Yup, you heard that right-- the Bush administration was willing to write down mortgages in response to Democratic pressure, but it was Obama who said no, we want a foreclosure crisis. And with Neil Barofsky’s book Bailout: An Inside Account of How Washington Abandoned Main Street While Rescuing Wall Street, we see why.

Tim Geithner said, in private meetings, that the foreclosure mitigation programs were not meant to mitigate foreclosures, but to spread out pain for the banks...

. The lefty trouble makers are always the first to be thrown in the Gulag
when their own people come to power.

My opinion of this is because they are the biggest troublemakers and
will demand the power be shared equally. But given the same power
those supporters would do the same and croak supporters just the same.

No dictatorship is ‘’benevolent’’. No dictatorship allows the citizen ownership of a firearm(something Leftists never take into account). In a dictatorship the faithful are usually the first to go to ‘’the wall’’(firing squad) twits like this writer never see that coming. Dictators don't need creative writers offering cheeky critiques of the regime and any writer, actor or popular political figure who might outshine the dictator usually ends up going down ‘’the memory hole’’aka deadTo see that some ignorant, Facist -minded ''writer'' would think this would be a desirable enviornment for America to become shows an ignorance that borders on insult. What a fecking idiot this guy is. We are heading for uncertain times and deep, treacherous waters here. This two-bit Mussolini has shown us what an arrogant, narcissistic and mendacious little bastard he can be in his first term. He is unrestrained now. I'm sorry but I see a bad moon rising.
