Strange, isn’t it, that cowardly mass killers never seem to ply their trade at pistol ranges or shooting events throughout the nation. No, they inevitably choose government-mandated “gun free zones” in which no prospective victim has the means to defend either himself or anyone in his charge.
After the murders at Sandy Hook, gun grabbers are out in force demanding something at last be done about the “all-too-easy” accessibility of firearms. The NY Times points out Barack Obama “wiped the corner of his eye” during an address to the American public. We’re supposed to believe it was the cruel murder of these children which caused a purportedly emotional response in the president. More likely it was unbounded joy at the opportunity this tragedy provides in the left’s ongoing battle against the right of self-defense.
After all, are we to believe this lifelong supporter of...

The most hypocritical article I saw was about Hollywood stars calling for gun control. Hollywood spits out murder training films on a daily basis.

Media exposure is the real enabler of mass killing. The suicidal, criminally insane who want to go out in a blaze of infamy, giving the finger to the world know that their name will live ‘forever’ and finally they will get the attention they deserve by the mass killing of innocents. Why did the media stop showing images of fans acting out at sporting events? Media has the RIGHT to broadcast these events but what is their RESPONSIBILITY?
That is the most apt comment I've seen on this whole tragedy. I can barely sit through the trailers at the movies these days. Add violent video games to that list of negatives too.

A veteran Democratic lawmaker believes the nation will go along with stronger gun control laws if President Obama “exploits” the Newtown, Conn., tragedy and nudges Congress to action.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who represents portions of New York City, said he was encouraged by Mr. Obama’s statement on Friday afternoon that the mass shooting, which claimed the lives of 20 young children, requires “meaningful action” by Congress, but hopes those words turn into concrete legislation.
