Connecticut School Shooting Doesn’t Deter Crowd At Gun Show In Montgomery County
Drudge Report, Philadelphia CBS Local ^ | 12/16/12 | Pat Loeb

OAKS, Pa. (CBS) — A gun show in Montgomery County drew a huge crowd on Sunday, despite calls for stricter gun control after a shooting rampage at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.

If gun control advocates were hoping the scale of death at Sandy Hook Elementary School would dampen enthusiasm for the purchase of guns, the line of people waiting to get in to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center was evidence to the contrary.

“It’s more crowded than it has been in the past.”

The crowd was diverse, there were even families with children, but none of the shoppers admitted to even a moment’s pause about guns after Friday’s mass murder in Connecticut. Terrible, they agreed, but unrelated to the shooter’s access to guns.

“There’s knives, hammers, baseball bats, all kinds of things have killed people,” Crazy people get in cars and kill people. You don’t hear anything about restricting that.”

Gun enthusiasts know an event such as the Sandy Hook massacre is likely to bring calls for gun control, and they are armed with what have become familiar defenses.

“A rifle doesn’t kill people, people kill people. Crazy stuff is going to happen whether it is done with a gun or a car or anything.”

Media stomping it's feet: THE PEOPLE AREN'T PAYING ANY ATTENTION! THEY'RE CLINGING TO THEIR GUNS AND THEIR LIBERTY! THEY'RE NOT LISTENING TO OUR BRILLIANT COMMENTARY! WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET GUN CONTROL THROUGH THE CONGRESS IF THE PEOPLE DON'T LISTEN TO US!

Our local media announces when there is a gun show in the paper and on the radio.

The media promotes terrorism, period. No one in their right mind with the type of crazy broken kids being “raised” by the state out there is going to be for disarming themselves. This shooting is proof positive we need to protect ourselves, just like a rape victim would take “reasonable” precautions. Instead the media ask the rape victims to bare it all and go back to the dark street.

Gun owners get nervous when things like the killings happen. They know that right behind the shooters come the gun grabbers.

Much like gun sales soared after Obama got elected.

The left is desperately trying to focus attention on guns, when it should be on lack of moral values and the presence of mentally unstable in society.

I think the people have become wise to these manipulative games. I pray the congressmen will resist any attempt to bring back the stupid and useless laws of the 90’s.

Because these involve subjects like God and responsibility which politicians, like their patron Pontius Pilate, don't recognize.

I’ll be buying more and so will many others I know for the simple fear of not being able to get them in the future.

Like Twinkies.

Twinkies and guns. Mmmmmmmmm

That would force people to be responsible for their actions, and by golly, we can’t have that!

And how right they (we all) are!

Local morning news had the Obama “For The Children” soundbite, couldn’t find the remote to turn it off fast enough.

I don’t like the way the political winds are blowing, I was going to invest my end of the year bonus check and tax refund, but until I see how this is going to unfold every spare penny is going into so called “assault weapons” AND ammo, I think many are forgetting that the government might very well target ammo realizing that your shiny new gun is little more than a poor club without ammo.

Fixed it.

I was in Academy sporting goods store yesterday and you could not even get close to the gun bar. One of the guys that work at Academy says it was even more crowed on Saturday, and ammunition was going out like there was no tomorrow.

There was a gun show here in Fredericksburg, VA this past weekend. Over 600 tables and the place was packed both days. I watched as people were literally taking several cases of ammo out the door on hand trucks.

The Virginia Citizens Defense League, VCDL, always hands out “Guns Save Lives” stickers and most people had them. After my wife and I left the show yesterday we went shopping with both of us wearing the stickers. We received several comments, all positive, with two different women making a similar comment wondering if the teachers were allowed to carry they could have stopped the carnage and that school.

I was quite surprised we received not a single bad or snide remark while we were wearing those stickers.

That is very encouraging to hear. It means the people know what’s going on and are not fooled.

I live in MA and always keep in mind that the reason the British went to Concord was to get the stores of arms that were hidden there. If they were successful in disarming the populace, the revolution would have been stopped cold.

I was at Roosevelt Field on Long Island about 12:30 today. I stopped in Dick’s Sporting Goods. I walked over to the hunting supply section. There were 15 people on line asking about various firearms. Dick’s had to send extra help to the counter. There were guys asking about mini 14s ( they don’t carry them) and a guy looking to buy a 20 gauge for his wife. It wasn’t a madhouse, but it was far busier than i’ve ever seen.
