Now that the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is on record that it told NBC News not to use the high capacity magazine in its segment with Wayne LaPierre, the big media is paying attention and taking this seriously.
TMZ is running interference claiming that NBC News was told by ATF that the D.C. Police said it was okay, but the D.C. Police say they were asked directly by NBC News for permission and that permission was denied.
The NY Times actually has a sensible and informative story on it:

Selective Enforcement of the Law:Selective enforcement is the ability that executors of the law (such as police officers or administrative agencies, in some cases) have to arbitrarily select choice individuals as being outside of the law. The use of enforcement discretion in an arbitrary way is referred to as selective enforcement or selective prosecution.
Historically, selective enforcement is recognized as a sign of tyranny, and an abuse of power, because it violates rule of law, allowing men to apply justice only when they choose. Aside from this being inherently unjust, it almost inevitably must lead to favoritism and extortion, with those empowered to choose being able to help their friends, take bribes, and threaten those from they desire favors.

If he was a “white hispanic”, NBC would edit his TV record and make him a murder, like they did it to Zimmerman.

You have to put this into prospective....if you arrest |David Gregory, then NBC would think about re-locating their studio....to Maryland or Arlington. DC wouldn’t dare screw up on this....like they did with the Redskins.

Selective enforcement.
EXACTLY. If anybody at Fox News had done this they'd have been carted off to the hoosegow. Liberals can do it with impunity. America is dead and we are the enemies of the New State. We're all criminals now.

Since when do the police issue waivers to lawbreakers??? Their job is simply to enforce laws. Selective enforcement spells the end of freedom and the rule of law. We are now a Police State. Any thought or action contrary to that of the State will be dealt with by selective enforcement.

If I were to bring this weaponry device as a conversation prop to a meeting of my Dorcas Ladies' Aid Sewing Circle at church, I'd be nabbed and hustled off to the slammer so fast that my feet would be left behind.
And the mighty NBC wouldn't send anyone to bail me out, either.
Well, there's no such ladies' group that I attend, and my whole scenario is somewhat of a stretch for effect, but you get my drift. The long arm of the law only stretches out to grab our peon-istic necks, not the svelte, swan-like necks of the political and media aristocracy.
