Fiscal Cliff: Republicans and the Art of Surrender…

Surrender

The Republicans’ flag of choice…this color does run.

I have been saying all along that more than likely the framework of a fiscal cliff deal was crafted months ago and that all we’re seeing now is nothing more than political theater. The actual plan was probably hammered out by leaders from both parties and the President before the election and now they’re putting on a show for the American people. They’re playing us. As more of the plan leaks out you will see that real spending cuts are not even addressed. This is about raising revenue to continue the expansion of government, further shackling the American people and both parties desire this state. Substantial spending cuts and entitlement reforms downsize the size of government and no one in Washington really wants that.

This is why entitlement reforms were taken off the table from the get go and why there is only a promise of spending cuts in some distant future. Under this deal government still grows. Spending still increases. And our national debt still explodes. Wake up people, these closed door meetings have less to do with tackling the real problems that destroying our nation and more to do with how they’re gong to sell this garbage to their colleagues.

I knew there would come a time when some prominent Republican leader would have step forward and capitulate saying that we can’t afford to go over the fiscal cliff; a fiscal cliff they created. I knew they would say in order to prevent taxes from going up on everyone we must concede the point and raise taxes on the few. This was a move that had to happen to add to the illusion of progress in regards to the so-called “negotiations.” I just didn’t know who this tool for the Republican Party would be; that was until yesterday. Check out the below video clip from yesterday.

That pretty much says it all doesn’t it? Senator Graham tipped his hand yesterday and his words were quite revealing. He said, “What have “WE” accomplished…a political victory for the President, Hats off to the President, he stood his ground. He’s going to get tax rate increases, maybe not at $250,000 but on upper income Americans. And the sad news for the country is that we accomplished very little in terms of not becoming Greece or getting out of debt…” Are you getting it yet? We basically are getting nothing out of this deal! We’ve been rolled again by these fake conservatives. They played us and now we’re going to reap it. Did you notice he said WE accomplished a political victory for the President. It almost makes you think that they’re all in it together. Maybe because they are my friends.

I would like to give a shout out to Republicans for not protecting the future of our children. You’re surrender not only steals their future by burdening them with massive debt, but also increases spending, putting us on direct path towards insolvency as a nation. Good Job! I thought the original charter of the fiscal cliff negotiations from over a year ago was to get spending under control. I guess we forgot about that. Instead the Republicans allowed the President to wrestle the narrative from them and make it about tax increases on the successful. And now we’re actually going to grow the size of government. Oh the irony. Republicans should be so proud of themselves, because once again they have mastered the “Art of Surrender” on a national stage. I pulled the following from a the website tinybuddha.com. I wonder how many Republican leaders in Washington have the below inspirational guidance posted somewhere in their offices.

The Art of Surrender

Surrender literally means to stop fighting. Stop fighting with yourself. Stop fighting the universe and the natural flow of things. Stop resisting and pushing against reality.

Surrender = Complete acceptance of what is + Faith that all is well, even without my input.

When I choose to let go and surrender, I visualize the boat turning around, me dropping the oars, and floating downstream.

That’s exactly where the Republican Party is now; oarless and floating downstream. This is why I can’t support them until there is a major shift in party leadership. What allows both parties to get away with screwing the American people is an uninformed/misinformed electorate. This is their greatest strength. This is also why we never hear these issues being discussed on the floor of the Senate and House. They want to keep us in the dark. They want us completely ignorant of the inner workings of Washington because if we truly saw how they were sticking it to us we wouldn’t stand for it. It’s time to unplug from both political parties and start looking out for our own. If the conservatives can’t beat the President on this issue what do think will happen when the President’s initiative to ban guns is up for debate. After this do you really trust Republicans to fight for your right to bear arms? I don’t. This why I’m engaging my local state representative to push for legislation that protect the rights of gun owners in my state from federal regulation. I encourage all of my readers to do the same.

It’s time to wake up our friends and family folks. We need them to open their eyes and start putting our politicians back in their constitutional box. Don’t embrace the “Art of Surrender” philosophy like many Republican leaders have done. It’s time to fight for our rights. It’s time to take off our political party goggles that blind us so we can see clearly again. I’m tired of both parties and their games. It’s time to wrestle the narrative back from them and make it about us because in the end we are America and they work for us.

These foolish Republican “leaders” that we have are ultimately the result of foolish Republican primary voters who are told that “only” this established politician can win the general election. They’ll point to Richard Lugar as their “proof.”

Wish to God we had a “no more bullsh*t” congress.
One that would say “I'll see your sequestration” and “raise you welfare, foreign aid, UN funding and the Dept. Of Education” if they call then we raise with the EPA and Interior.
I know, dream on....

I’m betting Obama buys Boehner another bottle of Jameson tonight when he’s out on the town celebrating.

Blame the American people as much as the Republicans.

Americans knew exactly who and what they were voting for and what was at stake.

Now we are going to get what we deserve.

Things don’t always happen for the best and there is no guarantee of a happy ending.

There are going to be no happy endings in our near future.

The GOP continues to define itself in its own terms.

You want a fighter? Vote for the progressives. You won't like what they fight for, but they definitely will fight for it.

You want compromise with what you don't agree with? Vote for any and all GOP rinos. They'll tell you what you want to hear, just like any politician will, and then you'll be amazed at how anyone could cave so hard and so fast.

Definitely not worth the price you'll pay for the show, but that's never stopped them before. See you next election!

Boehner and McConnell didn’t surrender, they were never on our side in the first place.

One of the stories mentioned that there was supposed to be a permanent "fix" for it, but I lost track with all the stories/rumors/stories about rumors out there.

The only problem is thet the supposed "permanent" fixes/rates never turn out to be as permanent as "temporary taxes" do. Just kicking the can (getting heavier and starting to hurt the toes when kicked) further down the road and ensuring that the current version of the crisis is "averted" while also ensuring that when the real crisis hits it will show us what Zero meant when he said he wanted to Transform America.
