Today the people of the United States of America have an opportunity to make the world a better place. Rather than wasting time compromising the political ideologies of progressives and conservatives, Americans could use that time to employ modern economic and scientific advancements to eradicate poverty. The USA could lead the world into a new era where prosperity is the rule rather than the exception.

I would argue we have already eradicated poverty. America’s poor are the fattest people on the planet. Basic childhood diseases such as polio, smallpox, etc... have been eradicated. Everyone in this country can have basic food and shelter easily even if they don’t lift a finger to help themselves.
In fact, our prosperity has resulted in a whole new set of problems - spiritual and moral poverty

That was quite an interesting way of framing Social Security privatization. It’s true as well, but people almost never approach it from that direction.

By using the word “progressive”, which is a euphemism for “turd” favored by the left, the author outs himself as one of them.
>> Americans could use that time to employ modern economic and scientific advancements to eradicate poverty...
It would be more beneficial over the long haul to employ modern weapons advancements to eradicate progressives.

We had a wonderful program in place for eradicating poverty.
America's poor were materially better off than the poor anywhere in the world and materially better off than our middle class of 50 years ago. It was called the free enterprise system.
Then we started subsidizing and importing poverty with no thought as to how to pay for it . . . and we got more of it. Go figure.

I thought LBJ did that already in the 1960’s. See how well it worked out?

So the basic idea is to invest each person's 15.3% combined Social Security and Medicare tax into individual accounts. What happens to those who are currently on SS and Medicare? This year's payments aren't saved by the government (no matter what financial book cooking is happening to make it look like there is a lockbox with the cash). That means the government would have to grab another 15.3% tax to pay for current spending. Also, those who make little or nothing would have little to nothing saved through this program and thus still be poor.

Given the choice of becoming a millionaire without investing a dime out of your present paycheck or staying on welfare and dependency programs most will opt for the former. LOLOLOL!
If most people opted for making a paycheck, they wouldn't BE 'staying on welfare and dependency programs'!
Sometimes the backassward logic of these progressive critters is SUCH a hoot!

So this is not an Onion spoof?
Universal Savings Account (USA) for everybody! You are forced to ‘save’ for your own good.
Now it is time for Obama$Care to take care of the ‘poor’. Just think of the children!
The author might as well start the United Federation of Planets.

I would love to get a government statistician on the witness stand and ask him how poverty is calculated. I have heard, but never officially confirmed by someone in government, that non-cash payments are not included in the poverty calculations so no matter how much Medicaid, section 8 housing, food stamps or a thousand and one other programs other than direct cash payments do not count for lifting people out of poverty. Thus someone who is one dollar below the poverty level and thus "poor" gets thousands of dollars of food stamps and Medicaid will still be poor even though by any rational definition that government loot has lifted her above the poverty line.

Pres. Obama, the great savior, can just make poverty illegal by executive order and that would solve everything.
The age old problem solved.
After all, it works with the budget, right?

The median household income in the US is less than $52,000 per year yet if you divide the total public aid spending by the number of recipients the per person amount is about $60,000 per year.
Putting aside how many people are in a “household” in this demographic group, just how much more should we be spending before the job of eliminating poverty is completed and we can move on to other important social issues?
To: Only1choice____Freedom
pres Obama needs no stink’n budget.
he’s been operating without a single budget.
/wonder how it will work if everybody operates without any budget
