Obama's Greatest Legacy Might Be Destroying the Media
Breitbart's Big Journalism ^ | January 19, 2013 | John Nolte

Posted on 01/22/2013 12:38:10 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

On Thursday, while looking wistfully back at Obama's first four years, NBC News accidentally did some actual reporting. In a First Read article that opened with the question, "Is the nation better off than it was four years ago," senior political director, Mark Murray, did something that neither he, nor NBC News, nor the mainstream media was willing to do during this last presidential campaign: report on Obama's record.

But there it finally was: The Truth -- and from NBC News, no less. Poverty's up (from 43.6 million to 46.2 million), middle class incomes are down ($50k compared to $52k), the deficit's exploded (from $10 trillion to $16 trillion), food stamp recipients have skyrocketed (33.5 million to 46.6 million), unemployment hasn't budged, and the same number of people are without health insurance today as there were in 2009.

Still, NBC News couldn’t even bring itself to report the most damning Obamanomics numbers: a population so despondent by a lack of jobs that enough people have dropped out to shrink the labor market to levels unseen since the 1980s. A chronic long-term unemployment problem unseen in this country since World War II. An unemployment rate disproportionately savaging blacks and Hispanics.

Where was all this news during the 2012 campaign when Obama was applying for a promotion and Romney was applying to replace him?

We know the answer. Rather than report Truth, the media locked arms and circled Obama's palace in order to protect him from the mindless hordes of racist, sexist Neanderthals who dared criticize The Lightbringer. The media's weapons of choice were distraction and lies:

Did you hear what this Republican no one ever heard of said about rape? Did you know Mitt Romney's a Republican?(continued)

Gosh, I’ve been thinking just the opposite. He has empowered and emboldened the media to openly mock, lie and use their platform for ridicule and endorsement. I think the media is far more powerful now and they know it.

I think that any time we, collectively, speak, hear or read anything about a journalist, Mainstream Media, or political pundits, we should laugh. Laugh hard. Deride and debase them as if they were child predators. Ridicule them, marginalize them. They should be the number one joke in the country after Obama.

The Media has been destroying themselves for the last 50 years, Obama just gave them a good excuse to put a brick on the accelerator.

Part of the blame also must fall on the GOP for not having the stones to stand up to Obozo's crap. Private employment growth for the past decade is a depressingly low 1%. At the same time, federal employee growth has been 15%. Federal salary costs have literally exploded. Given that all gov't employees are going to vote for more of the same, and probably their spouses, too, a few more percentage points growth in gov't employment and you and I are totally screwed...there is no going back after that happens.

I suspect there will be a public media bailout bill. Lofty rhetoric will be crafted about the need for vibrant newspapers and broadcast media to bind America together, and then public funding will be made available to the NYT, the Wash Compost, CNN, etc. for the common good. Boehner may even participate and then extol the benefits of bipartisanship.

Every honest American should consider it their duty to expose, ridicule and denigrate the media each and every day.

I listen to conservative talk radio, am a frequent reader of FR posts, etc. The common thread to problems with Conservative values and the GOP is that we can not get our message out. The complaint is a broken record. How do we get them to move closer to the center? (at least)

My idea was that we should go after the media in the court of popular opinion. Let’s “out” them! Doesn’t David Gregory / Chris Mathew’s etc have some skeletons in their closet?

But then watching the innauguation yesteday and listening to Rush today, I came to the conclusion that bringing their past and current foibles to the front - yeah, that’s blackmail - they would only be raised to celebrity status (such as Bill Clinton, Kim Kardashian, Anthoney Weiner....) and strengthened more.

Reminds me of Hitler’s insiders who were drug addidcts, homosexuals (when that was not as “normal” as today) and occultists.

I tend to agree with you. The media and Obama have a symbiotic relationship, and each of them makes the other more powerful.

Nothing is going to come between them. And they plan to crush everything and everyone in their way.

The media destroyed themselves. Obama is just taking advantage of the circumstance.

Imagine when a Republican is president—and he uses all the powers taken by Obama to help his party, followers and beliefs.

Then what will it matter?

Imagine when a Republican is president....

I doubt I will see one again in my lifetime; the fix is in, and there will be no more honest presidential elections.

That will be true as long as the other side keeps rolling over and accepting it.

At some point, noses need to be bloodied.
