MSNBC ‘essentially’ ran ‘a voter suppression campaign’ against GOP during 2012 presidential election
The Daily Caller ^ | January 30, 2013 | Jamie Weinstein, senior editor

By tarring conservatives as racist during the 2012 presidential campaign, MSNBC “essentially” mounted “a voter suppression campaign,” says the author of a new book on media bias.

“Some of the quotes I have in ‘Spin Masters’– you might remember them if you watch a lot of MSNBC — still make me cringe,” David Freddoso, author of the recently released book “Spin Masters: How the Media Ignored the Real News and Helped Reelect Barack Obama,” told The Daily Caller.

“For example, Chris Matthews asserting that conservatives were giving Romney a long leash (ideologically speaking) because they are racists, I mean, come on — what kind of political commentary is that? That was essentially a voter suppression campaign, to tar conservatism and shame conservatives out of participating in politics.”

Despite egregious examples like that, Freddoso said most of the anti-Republican bias in the media was not intentional, but rather the product of the “liberal bubble world in which most journalists live — especially in New York and Washington.”

“When you’re a liberal, and 90 percent of your colleagues are liberals, and the only exposure you have to conservative thought is perhaps a few cranky Internet commenters or people who dog you on Twitter, it skews your perception of political opinions — of what’s mainstream and of what real people think about,” he said...

So now its MSNBC’s fault for shaming all the conservatives in their minuscule audience into staying at home..give me a break.

It was the GOP’s fault for running a Liberal instead of a Conservative...

MSM provided massive “in kind donations”. No need for Barry to pay for campaign ads. News media, pop culture, TV shows, all shilled for “the One”.

Yes, but so did many here on FR with all the Romney bashing. The real suppression came with all the vows on our side to never vote for Romney. Well, here we are.

That is absolute crap! Those idiots know exactly what they are doing and it is definitely intentional. I appreciate the author’s efforts in exposing this garbage, but giving our enemies excuses for their behavior is not helping!

Yes, running a Liberal instead of a Conservative was the real reason

No real conservative watches MSNBC anyway....how could they be intimidated?

I guess the “Hispanic Voter Myth” is not working too well after Rubio-Obama Amnesty was just announced

So what are conservatives going to do about it? More endless complaining that gets us nowhere? When are we going to create our own network? When are we going to get serious about boycotting leftist companies? When are we going to take our party back?

Bull hockey... it was marketing. The GOP was out campaigned. When everyone was making fun of Obama doing Vanity Fair interviews and Letterman he was energizing his low info voters. By all measures Obama should have lost, but his team energized all those people who don’t do politics and they pulled him through. And he probably cheated more effectively than the GOP.

If conservatives stayed home then they get to be responsible for Obama’s re-election. You don’t vote GOP then you enabled the Dem....complain away but when there is one of two realistic outcomes it’s that simple.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. This is what happens when Conservatives try to side up with republicans. Conservatives are literally a hot potato for politicians, both sides. Conservatives go against the fedgov agenda, which guarantees that the Conservatives will continue to be marginalized and demonized. Don’t let it wear you down. Our come-uppance is in the making.

There’s more people out here that value Conservative ideals than what these MSM talking heads and political party hacks would lead you to believe. No politicians as of yet have voiced our concerns, or have taken our interests to heart. Anyone we endorse for office is crucified be the MSM and the current political parties, and tactics they employ are used to divide us in our own ranks, including people here. Time to step up and fight fire with fire. If you truly believe in our Constitution, and what it stands for, then it’s time to fight for it.

But how exactly do we do that other than the things I have already pointed out?

I am not complaining about Obama he is what I expected..I did not vote for either liberal this time and I wont in the future. The only complaint I have is the so called Conservative party in this country has run liberals in the last two election cycles and sits around blaming Conservatives who wont for liberal for the GOP's loss. The Republican Party needs to wake up to the fact there is a ever widening gap between Conservatives and Republicans. Many conservatives have all ready woken up to the fact that a liberal with a R after his name does not deserve the Conservative vote...

That is a difficult question to answer to say the least. I would say starve the beast, with actively refusing to further fund the feds by the people until they are willing to abide by their Constitutional duty. Or we can just cut the head off of the monster, and let the 50 states decide whether they want back into the union. Either way, it will be a messy affair, either we shed a tyrannical fed government, or we become balkanized like europe, or we end up like the USSR or china.

Unfortunately, the FIRST AMENDMENT gives the media the right to say whatever they wish about Republicans.

That same Amendment would give conservative media the same right to say what they wish about Democrats - but conservatives with money just don’t seem to see a need to own media outlets - so we don’t have a chance.

“Many conservatives have all ready woken up to the fact that a liberal with a R after his name does not deserve the Conservative vote...”

So you got a choice between a radical left winger with a known track record as president and an opponent who you think isn’t as conservative as you want based on second or third hand data. And your choice is to not support the better of the two? This is politics - mature folks know they can’t everything they want but they have to make a choice... and by not making a choice you have supported the outcome.

It is your type that the Obama people love. They can flood the media with propaganda knowing your ilk will lap it up and regurgitate it to others... congrats on getting 4 more years for your guy.... you may go away now.
