The U.S. Department of State once again has resumed its search for providers of high-end crystal stemware and other tabletop glassware, only this time the estimated cost has leaped back up a couple of million.
The estimated price tag previously was $5.4 million, but had dipped to $3.5 million at the time of the initial report. That estimate has jumped to $5 million--though State now assures taxpayers that it will not spend more than $2 million on the glasses in any given year over the five year life of the contract.

Justification from the State Dept: “...furniture, art and tableware that are provided by the Department of State to our embassies and residencies abroad represent U.S. cultural and manufacturing excellence to our host country guests.”
LOL! We can’t have just ordinary crystal either. Oh no! We want the best of the best for the purpose of representing our “manufacturing excellence!” Again, LOL.
Is this to replace all the Benghazi Crystal?
This makes sense.
They will hoist ONLY the finest glassware
to the destruction of America, its allies,
its Ambassadors, and the murder of its people.
"What difference does it make?"
Can’t they just go begging to the UK (Waterford) or Austria (known for crystal) and get some freebies? Send the Clintons over there with their hands out. They’re renowned for their carpetbagging.
say what?
Another clear example of what is wrong with this government of ours.
While the military is threatening to cut the salaries of our fighting men and women, these dolts are focused on the quality of the vessels that will carry their fine champagne.
Mason jars would be good enough for this bunch.
Millions for Crystal when we are in debt up to our ears.
These people have no sense of reality.
Sad to say, Waterford is now made in china.
I just sent this on to our Congressman. I said, “no money for embassy security, but $10,000,000 for glassware...”.
This is so insulting, and is just one tiny example of the wastefulness that robs us of our hard-earned money every single day.
I am not surprised. Democrats are in power.
I would rather drink out of a mason jar or a straight sided jelly jar any day!
