On this Sunday's "Meet the Press," guest-host Chuck Todd was interviewing Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) about the current status of the Senate's gun legislation, specifically what is being called the "Universal Background Check" which Democrats and their media counterparts favor as a "common-sense measure" in reaction to the Newton murders a few months ago.
Forget the fact that a background check would have had absolutely no impact on Newtown, or Aurora, or Tucson, or Columbine, or Virginia Tech, or any other high-profile crime; progressives are bound and determined to use these massacres to slowly whittle away at Americans' constitutionally protected, God-given right to bear arms and defend themselves.
Enter Chuck Todd, who truly doesn't understand why a law-abiding gun owner would have a problem with a "Universal Background Check." After comparing an extensive background check to going through a TSA screening at airports, Todd asked Sen. Flake, "What's wrong with law-biding gun owners - what do they have to hide? What's wrong with going through an extensive background check?"

Would Todd apply the "What have they got to hide?" standard to the other amendments to the constitution?(continued)

1. Since we’re on the subject of background checks what does Obama have to hide?
2. I’m fine with universal background checks for buying guns and ammo so long as every last voter has to pass the same background check and then present ID in order to vote.
Then I suppose he would have no problem with the government having information about his V.D.,H.I.V., or depression drug prescriptions in a national data base to track and target him.
HEY TODD...why don’t you ask Hillary “what difference does it make”?
4th Amendment.
‘nuf said.

GOOD POINT!!! Let’s see Comrade Barry “Barack” Obama Dunham Soetero get a background check using his dead white man’s social security number.
Ditto for voters who are legal.
Stop all new background checks.
Stop all new gun limitations.
Stop all new ammunition limits.
STOP IT NOW.
Obama didn’t have to pass a background check..what is HE hiding Chucky
Liberals have claimed that it is almost impossible for a minority to obtain a government issued ID card, which many conservatives feel should be produced in order to vote. We are, of course, labeled as racists for asking for ID. Then, by that explanation, Liberals are racists for trying to keep firearms out of the hands of American citizens who fall into a racial minority catagory. Shame on liberals.
Ct law makers, at the behest of the ACLU, blocked a bill that would have got Adam Lanza off the street because it violated his right to privacy.
Voter ID - what do they have to hide?
I think our so called President should have no problem releasing all of the forbidden records. After all, he has nothing to hide.
Right?
Investigators confiscated an NRA guide...In a top drawer of a filing cabinet, they found paper targets. In a duffel bag, they found ear and eye protection, binoculars, numerous other paper targets and an NRA certificate in his name. Another certificate was found in the home that belonged to Nancy Lanza, 52.
In response, the powerful gun-rights group denied the accuracy of the police evidence, saying both Lanza and his mother had no links to the group.
'There is no record of a member relationship between Newtown killer Adam Lanza, nor between Nancy Lanza, A. Lanza or N. Lanza with the National Rifle Association.
Reporting to the contrary is reckless, false and defamatory,' the statement said.
“What have they got to hide?”
Lets see, for starters, the fact that I bought a gun, I need to hide that from all the gun grabbers. The fact that said background check is nothing more than registration.. another thing I would like to avoid.
They need to do universal background checks on journalists.
These morons are never on the correct side of the discussion. The government should assume everyone is armed and move on. It is none of their business who has a gun and who does not. It is there job to go after only those that use their guns inappropriately.
The government has no inherent right to know who owns weapons, for starters.
