“The People of This Country… Will Take to The Streets”
SHTF Plan ^ | 4/5/13 | Mac Slavo

Posted on 04/05/2013 6:46:29 PM PDT by Kartographer

We are rapidly approaching a situation in this country where the majority of Americans will not be able to acquire the basic necessities for life. With tens of millions of people unemployed, living in poverty and struggling just to make ends meet, it’s a wonder that the system hasn’t already collapsed in on itself.

For the time being government social safety nets have kept the restless at bay by providing assistance for food, medical care and housing. In fact, nearly half of Americans receive some form of benefit or distribution from the government on a monthly basis.

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve is relentlessly expanding our monetary base while the US government borrows unfathomable amounts of money just to stay afloat and maintain a perception of stability. This has led to significant price increases in the things Americans need to survive – food, medicine and energy.

Wild pig is a bit gamey no matter when you take it, but if you cook it right you can make it work for you instead of against you.

Green acorns and pecans will make the fat really bitter.

About the only way to cook around the bitter is to trim it really good then put it on a slow smoker for 12 to 14 hours.

Every day I get just a little closer to picking up and moving myself and my company to Panama.

Our area was without power for weeks after Sandy. That happens every few years and was not a problem. The real problem was the lack of gas. Lines were miles long and there were several instances of guns drawn just 3 or 4 days after the storm- and I am talking about the very conservative, solidly GOP NW portion of Joisey. My wife finally realized I wasn't nuts. I just smile to myself when I see an extra jar of Peanut butter or some batteries being added weekly to the stash.

I saw it first hand. Civilization lasts only 3 days and then drops off like a cliff.

The Feds also pay farmers not to grow crops.

Why July 1st?

People don't riot in the winter.

America haters want to permanently ruin, take over, or co-opt the 4th of July.

It takes about 3-4 days for tempers to really flare.

The 1st and 15th are Mil paydays and EBT recharging days...

Let us imagine for a moment that we would be assured of living 70 years at any point, and anywhere, in history. Which 70 years would you choose and where would you choose to live them. (assume the ability to travel at will...at least at the will allowable for the time period you have chosen.) I think I’d choose 1855 to 1925 in America...although air conditioning certainly makes modern times desirable. (yet listen to us bitch in spite of the easiest physical life that has ever been available.)

I might like to visit some other times, such as the time of the founding of America and framing of the constitution, but ...

... we were chosen for this time.

Thanks for that first hand account.

Strange how even here on FR there are people who think prepping is crazy. Even when they hear firsthand accounts like yours it seems to pass right over them.

In this state EBT food benefits are assigned dates from the 1st to the 10th for recharging, to spread out the crush a little. I think TANF benefits here are always on the 1st.

None the less if the tap gets turned off on the 1st, pretty much everyone will know about it by the 4th...

I remember seeing scenes of Sarajevo during the '94 Winter Olympics and thinking how tranquil the city looked ...how much like my own home town in the US.

A decade later Sarajevo descended into Hell.

The people who complain about our prepping, have not been through a hurricane with power going out while the wind is trying to tear up your house. Ike was in the middle of the night but no one was sleeping through that. It was a very large storm so it went on for hours with those 100 mph winds.

You don't know if your power will come back in one day or one month. You don't know if your water out of the faucet is safe to drink. If you have a tree in the middle of your house, and it didn't kill you, you are thankful.

Anyone who has been through a situation like that, and doesn't prepare for it the next time, is not smart enough to live, and may not the next time.

And, some of these people think we want it to happen. I dread hurricane season every year - I do not want that to happen. From June through October, I know if I want to live and have good water and food and be cool and be able to cook, I had better be prepared. People who don't, are fools.
