Ft. Hood Sergeant Illegally Arrested and Guns Confiscated while Hunting

The conflict between law enforcement and armed military personnel in the community around Fort Hood, one of America’s largest military bases, has recently and repeatedly involved the issue of gun control — and the tension has been exacerbated in part by an Obama-supporting prosecutor described as a “bandleader” of anti-gun efforts in the heavily conservative community.

The conflict reached a fever pitch last month, when Texas police arrested an active-duty Army sergeant for “rudely displaying” a hunting rifle. The sergeant, C.J. Grisham, established an online legal defense fund after he was, in his words, “illegally arrested and disarmed” for carrying the firearm.

“While out hiking with my son through backcountry roads to help him earn his Eagle Scout rank, I was illegally arrested and disarmed without cause. I was thrown in jail and my lawfully owned weapons were confiscated without receipt or notice,” Grisham wrote on the website for the defense fund.

Have you seen the cable TV show called Portlandia? OMG! Talk about mocking liberals....... that show is a riot! Look for it if you haven’t seen it yet. Even your aunt might think it was funny now that she has lived there.

Feral hogs are starting to become a problem all across the country. A local nature preserve just trapped sixty porkers in less than two weeks time, and they think there are at least that many more still out there.

It’s going to get to the point where the mere threat of being disarmed will result in defensive gunfire.

The Sgt is Army Counterintelligence????

The idiot prosecutor should be crapping his pants rather than attempting to stand his ground on this.

I suspect that trend to continue, for one reason - we are law abiding citizens.

Wake up. There is no longer rule of law. They can literally lock you up anytime they want for any reason they want. And this is how the public has responded.

In Kalifornia I can literally buy any gun ever made. I can start a business and retire comfortably without ever paying any taxes to anyone. There are literally thousands of people doing this right now in Kalifornia. There is no longer rule of law. That is why the country is falling apart. This is why they cannot raise revenues. We are ignoring them and their laws. And the more they try to squeeze blood from the turnip, the stronger the turnip becomes.

ComDems are too dumb to know that, but you are right.

Hopefully the AG will “fix” this crap.

Agreed, I know a couple of TX Rangers and both are straight arrow tough old guys. Nice in person, live invisible lives socially, get the job done. Neither of the 2 I have known were Highway Petrol before.

They are not leftie lovers.

http://www.examiner.com/article/active-duty-army-sergeant-arrested-for-rudely-displaying-a-hunting-rifle

Since his arrest, the charges against Sergeant Christopher Grisham of resisting arrest which was a Class A misdemeanor was changed to interrupting, disrupting, impeding and interfering with a peace officer while performing a duty, a Class B misdemeanor.

That does not fix the problem. The Prosecutor needs a smack down by the state bar or the AG.

Refusing to obey an unlawful order is not a breach of the law. They had no right to stop him, no right to question him and no right to arrest him. They trampled his Constitutional rights and I hope they get nailed in court with punitive damages. If this can happen in a rural area of Texas, what would happen in a leftist state like California or Connecticut? Anyone who thinks that the State (whether it the federal, state or local government) is above arbitrarily disarming and detaining law abiding citizens needs a wake up call. It’s only a matter of time before someone gets killed for refusing to comply with such an unlawful order.

Yes, I expect citizens will loose their lives due to rogue enforcement efforts. It is a natural outgrowth of the militarization of the police. Very bad.

A little history.

1. Grisham is a FReeper. He posted about this incident here.

2. As some already know - Grisham is an Gun Rights Activist. Many believe he staged this. This run-in was not accidental.

3. Draw your own conclusions.

Grisham is a Milblogger (blog is currently on hiatus), and is a friend of one of my good friends, also a milblogger. My friend generally supports your take, he has been picking fights with the authorities in Temple in a way that some view as confrontational or beyond.

I think that I would likely have issues with Grisham were I to know him, and certainly if he were in my unit; but, that doesn’t mean that he violated any laws and more than likely the Temple police rose to take the bait and said and did things that they should not have done. However, with a hostile prosecutor and luck of the draw on the bench, this may not turn out well for Grisham.

This was my take on the situation to Grisham:

So you’re claiming the article as written is untrue. Or inaccurate. Or misleading. Or whatever. I suppose you weren’t even on any Boy Scout Hike either, huh?

Look, I’ve read your blogs and I see this activist type of behavior in what you’ve blogged before. And right or wrong, my opinion is you staged this. You flaunted your rights and some knee-jerking LEO overplayed his hand and now your ass in a crack. I do hope you find a way out, though.

Good luck.

If it were only this one incident, it might be logical.

From what I have read, there are several more incidents related to Ft. Hood soldiers and this prosecutor.

Understood.

But back in the day, when I was a TPD officer, the Rangers were the good-’ol-boys from way back, and always from DPS.

Do recall they were forced to hire a TPD female as part of their “we are diverse and luv it” push. . .and she ended up suing them.
