Upcoming Movie "The Purge"
The Purge 0fficial Website ^ | 5/28/2013 | Blumhouse Prods

Looks like interesting movie...

If on one night every year, you could commit any crime without facing consequences, what would you do? In The Purge, a speculative thriller that follows one family over the course of a single night, four people will be tested to see how far they will go to protect themselves when the vicious outside world breaks into their home.

In an America wracked by crime and overcrowded prisons, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity—including murder—becomes legal. The police can’t be called. Hospitals suspend help. It’s one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment.

Great minds think a like!

The "Red Hour" was the only way that humans could procreate in a Landru perfect world and the clean up gave the inhabitants a purpose until the next Red Hour. I wonder what reason “The Purge” will give as its reason to exist?

The trailer was good, it showed the family settling into their bunker for the night, and all was well, until this guy is getting chased by a group of people in masks, and ends up banging on the door of the fortified bunker/house. The teen daughter can’t let him die and she shuts down the security system and let’s him in. So the group chasing him decides to get into the house, and it takes off from there.

Isn’t there a holiday in Ecuador where you get to throw water on people? Only one day a year.

Wouldn’t be doing anything except guard duty that day. I’d be gathering in family, starting up a militia with the neighbors, and fortifying the house.

There would not be a libtard left alive within a 5 mile radius of my house

Here that would take decades at the rate of 12 hours a year...

I didn’t get all the nuances of the show-I was a teen, and still learning about things implied-but I remember the actors yelling “festival, festival!” and running mad, and one character’s daughter coming home in hysteria after having been rather obviously roughly used/raped.

Also that my dad-who had been stationed in Germany-commented that it reminded him of what went on during whatever that old semi-pagan autumn/winter holiday is that they still celebrate in parts of Europe...

What would happen if all of the terrorists in the country decided to do the unthinkable[?]

Look up "The Perfect Day" of the Sapoy Rebellion. (It's been purged from Wiki, good luck).

Imagine 100,000 muslim jihadis here on H-1B, L-1, refugee and expired student visas working in power plants, fertilizer factories, refineries, chemical manufacturers, hospitals, utilities, dams, pharmaceutical formulators, web hub server farms, municipal water supply facilities, sewage treatment plants, meat packing and food processing plants, driving HazMat trucks...

Yeah, and it would probably go faster with both of us working on the project...

Sounds like Chicago any given night.

Indeed... the government under Obama and Holder have not OFFICIALLY introduced this policy,
but there is an understanding that if you're "of color",
you're not going to be punished for crime.

Feral (Argentinian collapse blogger), said that the liberal government ruling class that was elected [unofficially] had a policy that criminals were not to blame for their behavior because the "rich" victims had it coming.

Sound like a familiar line of argument? Here? Today?

I saw a stupid movie once which was supposed to be based on a real crime.

A guy and his live in girlfriend, or wife, were at home when a woman knocked on their door about 3 in the morning, throughout the night, a unarmed bad guy and his two women harassed the couple until they eventually murdered them.

The couple were hopeless in the face of the bad people, the only thing they had going for them was being in their own home, having two cell phones, a land line, two vehicles, a shotgun, and plenty of ammunition, at no time did they appear to have a chance.

It was hard to feel sorry for them when they were finally tied up and murdered with a knife.

The movie reminds me of the Star Trek episode “The Return of the Archons”

"We all know one another - in Landru."

I know exactly what I would do. I do not even need to think twice about it, and I definitely cannot say what it would be.

You don't have to say. For I would do the same thing.

Ah... a good night for a group of good, conservative, former military men to go “hunting”.

another propaganda piece getting people use to less govt services

personally, if this were society, i would have a very secluded location for things i care about and maybe a small unit in the local big city for the rest of the year.

of course, it’d be a real shame if san francisco and other liberal cesspools were wiped from the map in those 12 hours.

it’d be a real shame

Kinda reminds me of “The Box”.

I was reminded of the same thing!

Arlington Steward: I have an offer to make. If you push the button, two things will happen. First, someone, somewhere in the world, whom you don't know, will die. Second, you will receive a payment of one million dollars. You have 24 hours...

Martin Teague: What happens once you've completed your tests?
Arlington Steward: I submit the data to my employers, and then your fate rests in their hands. One cannot say they are not without a bizarre sense of humor. Look at me.
Martin Teague: I wouldn't know sir, of whom it is that you speak. Your employers remain a mystery to us all.
Arlington Steward: I like mystery. Don't you?
Martin Teague: How do we pass the test?
Arlington Steward: Isn't it obvious? Simply don't press the button. If enough of you don't, the test will conclude. But there will be more tests to come.

I think they stole this from an original Star Trek episode.
