Sounds like East Saint Louis every day of the year.

Spock: How often mankind has wished for a world as peaceful and secure as the one Landru provided.

Kirk: Yes. And we never got it. Just lucky, I guess.

Sounds pretty much like that latest Nicolas Cage/Nicole Kidman snoozer "Trespass."

Speaking of Nicole, is there some law that says every Hollywood actress has to have cosmetic surgery when she hits 40 that makes her look like Jocelyn Wildenstein?

Reminds me of two movies... Lady in a Cage, which i watched at too young of an age... it starred Olivia de Havilland and a very young James Caan... creepy movie... and Extremities with Farrah Fawcett... she was excellent in this film...

I know! The sad thing is she did not need it! They are all doing it... men and women...

wow what a stupid idea the government came up with to solve a problem in this movie. The prisons are overcrowded so let us encourage more criminals to do whatever they want for 12 hours! Why not start killing the convicted people in prisons so that they were less overcrowded? that’s a good start.

It's called an "idiot plot": the story can only happen because the main characters (at least, if not the whole surrounding society) are complete idiots, oblivious to what's going on around them.

Almost any "teen slasher" movie depends completely on idiot plot.

For the other people here, I did a lousy job of describing the movie and may have given the impression that the people were inside the house and holding them, it was so much stupider than that, the bad people were out in the yard.

The beginning of the preview looks brilliant to me, truly an interesting concept. Then the preview looks like it turns into another rendition of “Assault on Precinct 13” and that doesn’t interest me.

If you really need to commit a crime, I recommend doing it in the part of Yellowstone Park that is in Idaho.

The only court that claims jurisdiction is the federal court in Wyoming. It is unconstitutional for the government to try in one state for a crime committed in another. Of course they could prosecute for conspiracy if you made up your mind to commit the crime in another jurisdiction.

The boundaries of the federal court were drawn before Idaho became a state, and after Yellowstone was a park. They haven’t redrawn the boundaries of the court and state to match each other yet, and they should.

I hmmm, I shall keep that in mind, but I do not actually feel such a need.

The only thing I can envision happening to me in Yellowstone is my being eaten by a hungry grizzly, so I think I will stay away :S

I agree with you. No courts, no consequences.

Something tells me that there would be a mass convergence on a particular area on such a night!

If on one night every year, you could commit any crime without facing consequences,

Kill every crazy, violent criminal I saw.

The teen daughter can’t let him die and she shuts down the security system and let’s him in. So the group chasing him decides to get into the house, and it takes off from there.

Based on all the fiction I've ever read, and on similar previous movies, the only rational thing to do before the crisis begins is to kill all teen (or younger) daughters...

Or lock them up securely (bound and gagged) in isolation the night before.

SO, in those 12 hours we can burn down the government, the media and Hollyweird?

Look up "The Perfect Day" of the Sapoy Rebellion. (It's been purged from Wiki, good luck).

Not much clarity there.
Is that an historical event? A novel? What?

A pathetically stupid movie.

That's not very useful.
Describes 9 out of 10 movies of the last decade!
