I have discussed the declining labor force participation and M2 Money Velocity before. Nothing has been the same since 2000.

And real median household income has also shrank since 2000.

There are not good economic conditions for a thriving housing market or mortgage market. But throw on some color from declining labor force participation, and we have an uh-oh! moment.
Lets start with the number of full-time workers. Usually work full-time is at 116,208 thousand.

The number of people on Social Security is now 57,554 thousand.

That is a ratio of full-time workers to Social Security recipients of 2-1.
Bear in mind that the average Social Security recipient receives $1,161.73 per month for a total of $66,863 million in August.
And you have to add Medicare and Medicaid to the bill.

We know that this downward trend in labor force participation is likely to continue, because more people retire and more people give up trying to find a job.
Here is the most likely Fed Funds rate given what it going on. It looks like the Good Ship Follypop.

Hey, don’t hog all the blame for Obama and the Dems. This situation did not arise on its own in the last 5 years. It’s been a long time coming, and both parties have a share in the blame for doing nothing to address it, since everyone knew it was coming.
Hell, the Republicans’ preferred solution to the problem is still to pass amnesty in order to try and fill the labor gap. So, even at this point, they have learned nothing and just want to find a way to pass the hot potato to the next generation.
Who told ya this?
What labor gap?
Did you not hear there are literally tens of millions of Americans still unemployed or under employed?
The word “velocity” in a piece about things economic says to me that the author may have some things right but it is by chance rather than calculation.
And one of the workers is part time.
