MSNBCs Ari Melber did his best to abide by his 2014 resolution to continue carrying water for the Obama Administration Thursday.
Melber opened his show with a discussion on the success of Obamacare, now that it is the law of the land.
Melber began by acknowledging the criticisms of the law, and pointed to the need for continued enrollment growth for the plan to reach fiscal viability, admitting that a 150% growth in enrollments in the next three months is needed:
According to the number crunchers at the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, those 2 million still need to grow by another 5 million people by March 31st in order to control costs in the long run.
But numbers arent the central point to Melber. Bringing in White House Health Care Policy Adviser Phil Schiliro, Melber noted what he believed to be the ultimate point of Obamacare, actuarial realities be damned:
Let me start with that point. If you'll join me in the premise that it is a good thing, as the White House has said, that so many millions more people are getting health care, right? And that's a humanitarian success.
Of course, from MSNBCs perspective, at least the host got through the show without saying anything he will likely have to apologize for. Melbers comments, while blatantly partisan, are likely only to offend those who cling to notions of intellectual honestly. And MSNBC has long since stopped apologizing for that.
