New York about to become conservative-free?
AmericanThinker.com ^ | 1-21-2014 | Sally Zelikovsky

"Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves," he said. "Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that's who they are and they're the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that's not who New Yorkers are."

Cuomo can walk this statement back all he wants, but the fact is, when liberals speak off the cuff and let their guard down -- without the protection that comes from teleprompters and prepared speeches -- they speak their true beliefs. Does anyone doubt that Cuomo would prefer to govern New York (or this country) unencumbered and unimpeded by conservative dissent? Is there any doubt that most left-wingers dream of a utopian paradise without a conservative thorn in their collective sides?

Like it or not, this reeks of totalitarianism-in-training. I'm not one to pull analogies out of the air willy-nilly, especially regarding something as serious as the Holocaust and the German Reich, but this statement by Cuomo is about as odious and ominous as it gets.

Juden raus. Judenrein. Judenfrei. Das Juden Problem. The Jews had no place in Germany (or Europe or the world, for that matter), because that's not who the Germans were. They didn't share the same value system or culture or place in the hierarchy of man, as the Germans. Germany's problem was simply the Jews themselves, much as the problem Cuomo is referring to is the conservatives themselves. The Conservative Problem. Conservative Free. Cleansed of Conservatives. Conservatives Out!

Chilling.

Probably since an elected president got the deed to the country; times are certainly a-changing.

No more swank, no more opulence. Now you’re just a big dirty, filthy gray crime ridden city — nothing special.

There is no reason that what happens on Wall Street has to happen on Wall Street. The financial houses are moving people out of New York every day. As the deterioration of New York City accelerates under DiBlasio, you'll be seeing tumbleweeds downtown before too long.

This arrogant, dictatorial style has become all the rage among leftist elected officials. They’re just emulating their Great Leader, Obama. They no longer feel the need even to pretend to abide by that tired-out old “American way.”

He used the word ‘conservative,’

Technically, he said "extreme conservatives", but as with all libs, "extreme" is an evolving term.

For instance, in Dim speak, "One Man, One Vote" is an "extreme" concept.

Frightening to say the least isn’t it.

What I consider isn’t that this is so much a statement, but who exactly the audience is it was directed too.

I’d rather NY become Progressive free.

The same ones who elected these people would vote against it.

Neither the people nor their reps will sit in convention. States will send delegates with commissions. There is a building groundswell of opposition, and state legislators know very well that DC is strangling the states. States have interests distinct from the people at large. Recall that a majority of states challenged Obamacare in court. When a convention is held, the media will not be able to ignore it. I expect a great constitutional reeducation will take place across America. The outcome isn't certain, but the Framers gave us a peaceful way to correct our mistakes and restore freedom.

Take the time to read the first chapter of Levin's Liberty Amendments, here.

Reminds me of Detroit in the Coleman Young days, when White Flight from that city really began in earnest. Young was thrilled to see them go, because it sealed blacks into the city political leadership forever. He didn’t seem to care that meant all the money walked, too. I guess he thought they could always hit the state Treasury or something.

I think Cuomo is thinking the same short-term game. It reminds me of Paterson’s gloating when Rush Limbaugh pulled up stakes for Florida. “If I’d have known raising taxes would make Limbaugh leave, I’d have done it years ago!”

I had the beginnings of an idea concerning these blue cesspool concentrations of liberals in otherwise conservative states...

put all the cities under exclusive federal jurisdiction just like Washington DC, and exclude their votes from the greater state votes.

They’d have to be represented in Congress in a different manner, requiring great changes in the Constitution, but maybe the idea of a “virtual state” could be implemented.

The State of New York has every right to create their own religion. They can not have a State religion. Every State will become clear in its path. Why would any group he listed choose to live there? I think South Carolina,Texas and Georgia would be best bet for those groups to move.

South Carolina has everything NY has but is better for the weather. What makes a city like NY, Ny any better than Charleston, Sc ? You put 2 million people there and the economic Climate and you win.

Yep. Sounds like a plan. Cut off the cesspool of NYC democrat domination and we’d have a chance upstate. At least they got the mayor they deserve.

Or, your upstate counties could secede like they’re talking about in Colorado.

Yep...Detroit should be THE model for liberal ‘holes (US Cities) descending, sort of like the 7 stages of depression/acceptance?? They are all the same, hence my theory that they will all devolve similarly. I think white flight (from NYC) will begin soon as it has been happening in the burbs and outlyers for some time now. IMO “white flight” from the city is really the rich white communists jumping off the sinking ship that they did everything in their power to punch a hole in! Of course, if they really “cared” about the “poor” people in the city they would stay and give them all of their money!
