The Iran Scam Continues, Part II

Through his "charm offensive," Iranian President Rouhani got a "deal" with the P5+1 negotiators to diminish and then eliminate sanctions without significantly reducing Iran's ability to develop nukes. Today, Press TV posted an article titled Zionists seek wars of aggression.

Charmin offensiveCharmin Works!

Press TV

is a 24-hour English language news organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). Its headquarters are located in Tehran, Iran. . . . Press TV is state-funded[11] and is a division of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

The Press TV article purports to be an "approximate transcript" of an interview with "Kevin Barrett, editor with Veterans Today, Madison," Wisconsin, about Western threats of war against Iran. According to WikiPedia, Mr. Barrett

is an American former university lecturer and conspiracy theorist.[2]

In the fall of 2006, Barrett taught an introductory class called "Islam: Religion and Culture", an undergraduate course for which he had formerly been a teaching assistant.[3] Before the semester began, it was reported that he planned to devote a week or two of the sixteen-week class to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack and the War on Terrorism. Controversy erupted when it became known Barrett was planning to discuss conspiracy theories in his lectures.[4][not in citation given] An internal university review found that "although Mr. Barrett presented a variety of viewpoints, he had not discussed his personal opinions in the classroom" and that the department-approved syllabus, which included a section on the War on Terror, had been followed.[5]

The Anti-Defamation League named Barrett as one of the "key figures" promoting anti-Semitic 9/11 conspiracy theories.[6]

. . . .

He converted to Islam in 1992, having formerly been a Unitarian.[2][9]

According to Mr. Barrett,  Atlantic Monthly is "a neo-conservative publication . . . . drooling to attack Iran" even though a successful attack would be impossible. Mr. Barrett next segues into a diatribe against Israel:

The neo-conservative Zionists Likudnik extremists aligned with Netanyahu want a wide Mid-East war so they can continue the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and maybe finish it, chase all the Palestinians out and murder a large segment of them. They don’t really care whether the war is “successful”. They just want to ethnically cleanse Palestine under the fog of war. [Emphasis added.]

Americans including top American diplomats should know that this is not in America’s interests. I’m sure John Kerry knows that and yet he feels compelled to issue these barbaric threats of war.

Essentially, these are threats to commit the supreme war crime, aggression, which has been viewed as the worst crime in existence since the Nuremburg Tribunals. He feels compelled to utter these threats because he’s under pressure from the Zionist lobby which has so much power here in the USA.

Press TV: The fact that these threatening statements are against international law and the UN charter, why don’t we see any reaction or rebuke from the United Nations itself?

Barrett: That’s a very good question. You know, I think one of the very purposes of the coup d’état on September 11, 2001, was to put an end to the Nuremberg period.

From the time of the Nuremburg Tribunals after World War II through September 11, 2001, leaders of countries that wanted to launch wars of aggression against other countries had to find a way to pretend that they were actually defending themselves because aggression had been defined as the worst war crime.

The Zionists didn’t like that. So, they setup the 9/11 attacks in part to unleash wars of aggression by Israel and the US. They call these preemptive wars.

The attack on Iraq and indeed the attack on Afghanistan are classic examples of wars of aggression that were redefined as preemptive wars due to the public relations bonanza that these people reaped after their 9/11 false-flag attack.

The article is a foolish and vicious Iranian attack on Israel, perhaps seen (correctly?) as the only threat to Iran's plans to become a full nuclear power. But with Iranian sanctions already diminished and a bright financial future ahead,

Clinton testifies

What difference does it make now?

Not much, apparently. According to Reuters, benefits are already rolling in.

One of the chief beneficiaries of this week's easing of Iranian sanctions is the country's ruler - Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Khamenei controls a massive business empire known as Setad that has invested in Iran's petrochemical industry, which is now permitted to resume exports. Under a six-month deal between Iran and world powers, Tehran has promised to scale back its nuclear development program in exchange for the suspension of certain economic sanctions, including curbs on the export of petrochemicals.

On Monday, the day the suspension of the restrictions took effect, the U.S. Treasury Department published a list of 14 Iranian petrochemical companies that previously had been sanctioned but are now permitted to do business abroad. The list includes three firms that the department said last year are controlled by Setad - Ghaed Bassir Petrochemical Products Co, Marjan Petrochemical Co and Sadaf Petrochemical Assaluyeh Co. [Emphasis added.]

In an emailed statement to Reuters, a spokesman for Setad said it only held shares in Ghaed Bassir Petrochemical. "Our investment ... in the petrochemical sector is minimal," the spokesman said.

The easing of sanctions comes less than seven months after the Treasury Department added Setad and 37 companies the department said Setad oversees - including the three petrochemical firms - to a lengthy list of sanctioned Iranian entities. The Treasury described the action last June as an effort to target Iran's leadership, and it accused Setad of being part of a scheme to circumvent U.S. and international sanctions.

In November, Reuters published a three-part series (www.reuters.com/investigates/iran/) that detailed for the first time how Setad had become one of Iran's richest and most powerful institutions, largely through the systematic seizure and sale of thousands of properties belonging to ordinary Iranians. By the time Washington sanctioned Setad, it had morphed into a multi-billion-dollar business conglomerate that now holds stakes in nearly every sector of Iranian industry, including finance, oil and telecommunications.

Iran's state news agency denounced the Reuters reports as "disinformation" intended to undermine public trust in the Islamic Republic's institutions.

Unless President Obama, Secretary Kerry and the P5+1 negotiators awaken to reality and understand what Iran is up to  -- an at best remote possibility -- Iran will gain ample resources not only to continue but to accelerate her development of nuclear weapons.

Is anybody there? Does anybody care?

Thanks Dan Miller. PressTV is also one of the favorite sources for pro-Assad agitprop here on FR.
