The Girl Scouts have apologized for seeming to endorse abortion advocate Wendy Davis in a tweet late last month, .....
The endorsement has caused a firestorm of protest among Girl Scouts, their moms, and the public at large. The controversy comes at precisely the wrong time for the Girl Scouts, right in the middle of the cookie-selling season that nets the Girl Scouts somewhere around $700 million.

The first cookie boycott run by John Pisciotta, executive director of Pro-Life Waco, had a tremendous effect on the Girl Scouts, even driving then Girl Scout CEO onto national television to defend the Girl Scouts against the charges they are too cozy with abortion advocates.
On Wednesday, the Girl Scouts issued the following apology:
December of 2013, Girl Scouts of the USA shared an auto-populated tweet, asking our social media audience to share their opinions about who should have been recognized in a discussion about 2013’s noteworthy women. While our intentions were good, many of our followers and the public at large raised concerns about the content they were driven to via our social channels. We listened, and would like to take a moment to sincerely apologize to anyone we have offended. We are truly sorry.It is unlikely the apology will end the cookie boycott. After all, the Wendy Davis endorsement was simply the last straw; the Girl Scouts have a well-documented history promoting what many consider to be extreme feminism including abortion.To be clear, Girl Scouts has not endorsed any person or organization. As our methods of communication evolve with technology, the mission of Girl Scouts remains the same: to continue building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

GS sells a lot of cookies in Davis’ TX, and that will continue.
You say “No thank you” and move along. The only way I would bring a child into a discussion like that is if it was my child and I were explaining to her why I was pulling her from Girl Scouts.

Too bad the kids get caught in the crossfire. They are innocent and are used by the left for political purposes. Makes me angry.
Amazing how the people at “National” are so far removed from the fundamental principles of the organization.
I ended a 50-year relationship with the Boy Scouts over their decision last year to admit openly homosexual boys. Already, our local Scout council is seeing a sharp drop in financial support and is moving to panic-appeal mode.
We sure are sorry we got caught. We promise not to do it again . . . . . get caught that is.

I don't buy the cookies cuz I don't like the cookies...nuttin to do with anything else.
We stopped buying GS cookies about 4 years ago. This isn’t the first time they’ve let the new agenda slip out in public.
I sure won’t buy them this year!
I don’t want to get into discussions about the unsavory aspects if the We dy Davis campaign with little girls and their moms at the N. Everett Safeway( though if they’ve been hanging out in that part of of Everett any length of time, they’ve probably seen plenty that is t meant for little girls eyes). On the other hand, I would like them to know my not purchasing is a conscious decision.
In the past I have avoided the cookies because of what I understood to be their position on abortion, but just said no without going into detail.

Wow thanks! I used that site to look up Costco Wholesale and I am totally disgusted with them. So glad I never gave them any of my money.
Sadly, no I didn't. Some folks have already made up their mind who to hate. False accusations just justify their hate; no way they will let reality to confuse them.

Girl Scouts are a leftist organization, tweet or no tweet. We don’t buy the cookies anymore - I buy the Wal Mart knockoffs instead.
I didn’t realize that the orientation happened there also in the 1970s. No more of their cookies and I’ll tell the reason to those kids and their moms at those tables by the supermarkets.

Thanks! I’d imagine lots of these GS moms would love to know about a great alternative. From the feedback I’m reading/hearing (friends who’ve contacted GS HQ), most GS moms are seething over this (Wendy and the abortion donations).
