Obama launches 'climate hubs' to help farmers, communities

The Obama administration will announce the establishment of regional hubs focused on mitigating climate change on Wednesday.

The hubs are the first-ever regional centers that will focus solely on risk adaptation and climate change solutions at seven locations across the country.

"On the heels of passage of the farm bill, the administration will take executive action to help farmers, ranchers and rural communities combat climate change and adapt to extreme weather and other damage it causes," a White House official said in an email ahead of Wednesday's announcement.

Dubbed "climate hubs," the new centers will address issues like increasing risks of fires, invasive pests, devastating floods and crippling droughts, the official said. The centers will aim to translate science and research into usable information for farmers, ranchers and forest landowners to adjust their resource management.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will formally announce the new initiative during the daily White House press briefing on Wednesday. Vilsack mentioned his intention to first create the hubs last summer.

“For generations, America's farmers, ranchers and forest landowners have innovated and adapted to challenges," Vilsack said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Today, they face a new and more complex threat in the form of a changing and shifting climate, which impacts both our nation's forests and our farmers' bottom lines."

"USDA's Climate Hubs are part of our broad commitment to developing the next generation of climate solutions, so that our agricultural leaders have the modern technologies and tools they need to adapt and succeed in the face of a changing climate," Vilsack added.

The seven designated locations for the hubs will service the surrounding region with climate change information and outreach.

The new climate hubs will be established in Iowa North Carolina, New Hampshire, Colorado, Oklahoma, Oregon New Mexico.

There will also be three sub-hubs in Michigan, Puerto Rico and California.

All government assistance programs are REQUIRED by LAW to sign up new voters. This will be just the latest vehicle to grow Democratic Party "get out the vote" rolls.

"The National Voter Registration Act of 1993, also known as the “Motor Voter law” since it allowed people to register to vote while renewing their driver’s licenses, requires government agencies offering social services must also offer a chance to register to vote.

“Section 7 of the Act requires states to offer voter registration opportunities at all offices that provide public assistance and all offices that provide state-funded programs primarily engaged in providing services to persons with disabilities,” according to the Department of Justice website." And you better believe that "climate change help" will be tied to Obamacare dictates.

Geesh...this sounds like one big boondoggle! These latest farm “collectives” are supposed to combat “climate change”? Perhaps they can use the hub site in downtown Detroit for planting wheat or, better yet, raising hogs.

Before we start analyzing a situation, let's first DEFINE it;

mit·i·gate

/ˈmitəˌgāt/
verb gerund or present participle: mitigating

1. make less severe, serious, or painful. "he wanted to mitigate misery in the world" synonyms: alleviate, reduce, diminish, lessen, weaken, lighten, attenuate, take the edge off, allay, ease, assuage, palliate, relieve, tone down

The government will establish a building, with people inside whose purpose is to CONTROL THE WEATHER !!!!

Shades Of Dick Cheney and George Bush and Katrina !!!!

The moment one of these places open, I suggest a citizenry pay it a visit ala the old Frankenstein movie ... with torches and a heart to destroy the evil within.

So you can imagine this ‘hub’. It’s a federal office building with a hundred ‘hubbers’. There’s a GS15 in charge, six GS14’s, and around sixty GS-10’s who do the bulk of the work. Most will be college graduates who just got out of some worthless program....found no real work....so the hub will be the place to go.

A farmer walking in? Someone will have to explain the terms and right words to use....to get any hub help. Kinda like dealing with the county ag agent from Green Acres (Hank Kimball). Farmer will say X, Hank will say Y....after an hour....they both reach some point of too much coffee and no results, and the farmer leaves).

How much mitigation do we need from a temperature anomaly of 0.2 degrees C? Even according to the adjusted data, global temperatures have risen a small fraction of one degree from the average back when climate scientists said we were heading into an ice age, although they have risen a little more if you count our exit from the "Little Ice Age" (1300-1850).

How many gummint scientists have told someone who has lived on and worked land for 70 years they don't know what they are talking about because they don't have a PhD?

...and they did it with little help from the Government.

This is just a make-work project for people who worship at Algore's altar and can't get a job in industry--another Liberal 'jobs program'.

Great. More Federal dependency programs and dollars to make addicts of citizens. More Federal jobs, more locked in Rat voters; just more and more. There is no end to what the Left can spend money on.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

‘executive action to help farmers, ranchers and rural communities combat climate change’

Wow and we all thought executive actions (formally known as executive orders) only effected the FERAL Government according to the FERAL Government..

I guess in this case it is a special case or again they LIED to us.

But, I am glad to see that Texas did not make the list because since we are the 2nd largest state in the Union it would not make sense to place a hub here but it does make sense to put one in Puerto Rico..... Who would have thunk it

Climate Hub Nazi! Red State, no hub for you excluding Ok.

Hubs filled with TSA caliber positions to inspect farms for animals that defecate in a watershed, cattle emissions of methane, a swat team to lend credible credence to the Climate inspector. Every ag office will get one. Fines for farmers, fees for cropland water use even if it comes down in the form of rain. It is their rain you see.

Maybe not a bad thing to not have them. Then there will be a uniform for authority. Nazi's love uniforms.

“battle risks associated with climate change, including drought, floods, pests and fires.”

Helping with everything but the record setting COLD and SNOW across the U.S. These “hubs” would be a sick joke if they weren’t simply standard operating procedure for Progressives and Obammunists: forge ahead with ideology despite the reality.

Re: “....record setting COLD and SNOW across the U.S....”

Environmentalists aka liars for the socialist cause will quickly tell you that this “extreme” weather is part and parcel of climate disruption brought about by global warming.

A new government program that nobody wanted, nobody needed (least of all farmers), that will produce nothing of value but will consume a lot of taxpayer money.
A communists wet dream.

Then... wth is each state supposed to do with its land grant university?

Don't know for sure about the other 56 (*ahem*) but our land grant university, OSU, keeps an extension office in each county of the state, run by people with usually graduate degrees who aren't politically motivated and know what the hell they're talking about.

Oh wait...

Sorry. Meant to paste this into my previous reply.

They're just taking over any real work with any real benefit that the states already do for themselves...

With more regulation and taxes on the way, of course.

Make-work and resume` building for the politically correct while better scientists either work in industry or not at all.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Progressive Socialist Democrat Party has now assumed the cloak of nuevo -witch-doctorism as a means of “explaining” and pretending like they can affect the weather (Climiatism) in order to control the ignorant peasantry. This is nothing more than reversion to ancient tribal practices of aboriginal peoples.
