Note that there are 3 charts listing totals for 1st day [February 18, 2014] early voting in Harris County Texas for the March 4, 2014 Texas primary.
The 1st chart combines Republican party and Democratic party numbers for the day.
The 2nd chart is the Democratic party totals.
The 3rd chart is the Republican party totals.
Each chart lists totals for individual voting locations.
Totals for early voters (person) and early voters (mail-ins) are tallied.
Potential number of mail-ins (from total ballots requested and mailed to voters) is also shown.
Harris County Texas [a large swath of the Houston metro area/suburbs]

From my review, Republican recorded numbers totaling 11,855 compared to the Democratic recorded numbers totaling 3356, shows high energy on the Republican side.
Also the number of requested and returned ballots follows the same very lopsided pattern.
Looks like it's maintaining a better than 2:1 ratio. I hope this translates to disaster for Cornyn.
I’ll second the motion!

Big turnout for Windy Davis?
Will it? I don't live in Texas or even an early vote state, but if I did and I wanted to oust Cornyn, I'd wait until the last possible minute to vote so I could see how the winds were blowing - I'd want to make sure I voted for the guy most likely to unseat Cornyn. A lot can happen in a primary and an early vote could be wasted.
I was thinking about that.
I expect Cornyn is too.
It’s on the minds of the people over at Slate too. The author interviewed Cornyn, it’s quite interesting.
Cornyn’s flooded radio, cable and network stations nonstop with campaign ads and anti-Stockman ads. Cornyn is sweating - chances he’ll have to face-off in a run-off [must win 50% to be the GOP candidate] are pretty high.
He saw what Sen Cruz and the Tea Party did to heavily favored and funded Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the race to fill retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s seat.
Actually, I don’t think they’re holding multiple party primaries, are they? IOW, each precinct, whatever, only votes once for whatever party candidates, right?
If there is only one primary per party, then that’s the time to sink Cornyn in my opinion.
'more than 4,500 Tarrant County voters had cast ballots - 1,528 RATs and 3,048 PUBBIES' early voted yesterday.
Thank you for posting those numbers from Tarrant County.
How are you going to know which way the winds are blowing? No data is
published outside of total votes cast per day during early voting.
Texas has a 50% + 1 requirement to win the primary. Thus in this primary
Cornyn needs to win that amount from among all votes cast for the eight
candidates.
Not really. Texas requires 50%+1 majority to win. Any vote not for Cornyn in this race with 8 candidates pushes it to the runoff with only the top two.
Sometime later today the SOS will publish a listing of the 15 largest counties showing
their total early votes, both in person & mail. The listing will be updated each day.
Example from 2012 primary:

I believe that is only posted after early voting closes.
Not they do it daily once they get started.

Please send a link for the current early voting. I have not seen that before, only the results afterwards.
Holy smoke.
If Stockman really is at 28...this is actually doable!!!
I’m beginning to believe Cornyn is trying to lose. At least he’s working real hard to make that a reality.
