Rick Perry Proves Himself NOT Reliably Conservative by Endorsing Musty Mitch
Reaganite Republican ^ | 18 March 2014 | Reaganite Republican

Same schmuck who just declared war on the Tea Party...

I was actually considering Perry a second-tier maybe for 2016, hard to argue with his economic record. But when he comes out and endorses Mitch McConnell vs. a viable Tea Party challenger (when there was no reason for him to weigh-in in the first place) it becomes clear enough to me that Rick Perry is not the man to reliably bring this country anything resembling a Reagan Revolution. He plays a good conservative when campaigning, and would most certainly portray himself as one again in 2016- but this time the stink won't wash-off.

This is the RINO fossil he's endorsing now:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell vowed any tea party candidates challenging establishment Republicans in the 2014 midterm elections would not just fail — but fail miserably.

"I think we are going to crush them everywhere," he said, The New York Times reported, "I don't think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country.

Maybe we shouldn't be so surprised... Gov. Perry has given in-state tuition to illegal immigrants, opposed e-verify, and said in a 2007 speech in Mexico that he supports 'totally open borders'.

Perry has a real impressive Texas economy he can and should be proud of, and there are many lessons for the rest of us there. But others like Ted Cruz think the same way economically- and would deliver simliar results nationally, imho.

Unfortunately, Rick Perry seems completely sold-out to the Rove/RNC/US Chamber of Commerce axis, a corporate Republican focused on the short-sighted demands of industry above all else... Republican grass roots be damned.

And while some left 2012's presidential primary debates thinking Perry not all that bright, turning on the party's base this year -while backing policy that would destroy the Republican Party as a national force- has me questioning not only the guy's intellect and conservatism, but the plain ole Texas 'horse sense' he supposedly possessed.

What's the end game here, unless Perry intends to be the GOP establishment's latest RINO nothing in 2016? Then they'll plug Rubio in the VP slot and commence to pandering, you can smell it already...

We've always known he was kind of on the line - but often can be jerked back to the right side with a hard enough tug.

Sometimes he just surprises us...

Perry CONTINUES TO BE Team Romney that imposes vaccines,
medications, gay marriage, and ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE
on the NON-EXEMPT (and makes $$$$$$$$$$$ from it all).

There are three things that worry me about Rick Perry, they are — ummmmm, they are -— ... well, I forget, but I’ll think of ‘em later ...

Just what does Perry gain by doing this?

That’s OK. He’s a lesser evil. the Dem is worse and we gotta elect him no matter what. Because anyone that doesn’t supports Obama, hates America and Kicks puppies.

I think I got them all...

Oops...Also, must be a DU troll because we all know that principles don’t matter.

Or so I have been told. A lot.

Oops...forgot a couple. We gotta moderate our stance because purity is bad for conservatism. Winning is what matters even if the guy that wins is more lib than con. Because we will hold their feet to the fire.

Yup. We will. Real soon now. Not this time though because this time is the most important election ever or ever will be...just like the last one.

I dunno. There are so many excuses people use to justify voting for RINOs over conservatives it’s hard to remember them all.

Grow up.

I’m sick of the immaturity of the argument that we have to get rid of McConnell and Roberts and GRaham and Roberts and Cronyn and on and on and on...

Don’t get me wrong... I want them all out of there... every last one of them... But there’s something called timing...

Our first and only objective is to win the Senate. Did you hear me... Win the Senate... Then you can do what you wish with the liberal wing of our party.

Anything else is mental masturbation and gives the dems a fit of glee.

That does your candidate have 20%? 20%/ Yeah, let’s get rid of Mitch..and be assured that the a hole in Chief has another two years of control over our lives...

Pray tell, how do you "do what you wish" with the "wing" of the party you've given all the power?

Oh thats easy! You hold their feet to the fire. Thats what lots op people promised they would do last election and look what a swell job they did.

Since it worked so well last time, it is sure bet to work as well this time.

Oh wait. The GOP is more liberal than ever.

I am beginning to think that the Democrats have developed a spray aerosol they can dope potential opponents with. The effect of the spray being that whenever any one of the dopees starts acting like a viable conservative alternative, they are irresistibly compelled to pick up a gun and shoot themselves in the foot with it.

Perry was a dem. The stupid came to the GOP already installed from the factory. See his past Gore backing for details.

Can you give me an example of how McConnell 'stopped' Obama at anything? Certainly not on his recent Debt limit vote where he was forced to show what a rat he is, nor on budget and spending measures before that. There have been numerous times when Republicans (organized by McConnell) could have stood together on Cloture and filibuster, but they invariably "brought the bills to the floor" for plurality votes in which they verifiably KNEW they would lose - all so they could go home an lie about how they voted "No" and how conservative they are.

I really wasn’t talking about the finer points of Perry per se. Just a general axiom that seems to fit most Republican contenders.

Can you show me any evidence that the DC wing of the party is any better at winning elections? The past four cycles tell me otherwise.

It sure seems like the Dems weaponizes stupid alright. I’ll definitely agree there. But it really comes down to the base bing willing to overlook all the obvious warning signs just to ‘win’.

Once they ‘win’ as our fellow poster above is rooting for, they revert to form until the next election when they become the staunchest conservative to ever hoist a musket at a pep rally.

The base, fearing a loss and susceptible to the age old lie that the Dem is worse (despite their guy voting with the dems on all the things that matter), forgets all the damage they did during their term and reelects their problem,

Rinse/repeat.

In short, we do it to ourselves. The GOP is smart enough to take advantage of it.

I keep reading right hear on Free Republic how stupid Americans complain about their candidates and then vote them back into office again and again and again and again.

Seems we can’t even take our own advice.
It’s all about winning and then we’ll take care of the problem senators and congressmen.

How many times must YOUR candidate betray you before you get the message? It’s no longer funny.

Just as the libs send trolls to right wing sites, so do the GOP. And for the same reason. Posts advocating that we keep voting for our problem ‘no matter what’ should be viewed through that filter.
