The unthinkable has happened at Fort Hood, Texas, the site of a 2009 terror massacre that killed 14, with another mass shooting leaving four dead and 16 people injured Wednesday at 4:25 p.m. CDT at the U.S. Army’s largest military installation.

The shooter, identified as 34-year-old Ivan Lopez, is among the dead. Lopez reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and had been wearing an Army combat uniform at the time of the attack. Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, III Corps commander at Fort Hood, said the shooter was a soldier who was under evaluation for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Six injured soldiers are being treated at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, a city about 20 minutes outside Fort Hood. According to hospital officials, the victims have a variety of injuries, including multiple gunshot wounds to the neck and abdomen.

Not terror?

Workplace violence, you know. They established that.

Boston was to be 'disgruntled food-cart owner wannabe', but they failed to kill his brother and the wife threatened to talk if he was slurred in such a manner...

You should ask a US Marine what he thinks about being disarmed in-theater because he isn't to be trusted in the presence of hi-ranking officials, including the CIC...(let alone the parade-bolt issue).

'Negligent' is the more appropriate word. He could be Criminally Negligent if his policies permitted the shooter to be on base armed for his mission...I'm certain UCMJ would adequately address the prior, if they had the will (they don't).

“What about the nutjob at the Texas or Texas A&M clock tower? Was he a student or ex-military?”

A Marine IIRC

Never heard a Marine doing it either.
Maybe the Marines have a better way of instilling a sense of family.

You watch.... Very soon, Obama will make a law that all ex-service people will not be aloud to have a gun. After all, vets are psycho killers and racist.

I listened last evening to the post commander and his response to a question of continuing post policy to not allow soldiers to be armed on post. It made my blood boil. He said he had no intentions of changing the procedure. How idiotic is that after admitting it took 15 minutes for military police to arrive. Soldiers who are trained in weapon handing and who are sent into combat with weapons, supposedly can not be trusted to carry weapons on post. This statement by a general officer is criminal, especially after a previous Fort Hood killing spree.

Admiral: President Obama Gave Us Choice to Accept Gays in Military or Resign

Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Robert Papp said that in 2010 Obama told U.S. military leaders to accept his push for gays in the military, and that if they didn’t, they could take the “opportunity to resign [their] commissions.”

Those officers left behind choose badly.

“Good Morning America” mentioned that the shooter was an Army truck driver in Iraq for four months.

During the Vietnam war, there would be an occasional incident at a firing range, the military answer then, was to have the drill sergeants and range sergeants carry loaded 45s.

You could see their alertness, and you did not want to be seen making a gesture with a loaded rifle, that would lead them to think you were seeking to take out people.
