Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La) is sinking in the polls and seems in danger of losing her seat in Congress. In a bid to stave off this fate she warned voters that “I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. But what I do have is a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let me keep my seat, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will use these skills to make you rue the day you decided to defy me.”

real clear politics has the senate takeover race at 50r/50d meaning the vp becomes the tie breaker.
I saw a Landrieu spot on the television a few days ago. In it, a boat builder was supporting Senator Landrieu because she was chair of the Senate Energy committee. He was a Republican, but said that Louisiana couldn’t afford to have someone in the Senate without her status.
I can see Mary (Baby-Fat) Landrieu thinking in this manner. She comes from a powerful family and feels entitled, lo, even endebted to this position for the rest of her life. “Don’t yall know who my Daddy was? I should not be struggling like this!”
In a few years you might see Michelle Obama run for something and ‘win’ easily the first time, because the position will be gift wrapped and delivered to her as she enjoys breakfast (alone) in bed. But the reelection campaign will be difficult, because by then, all will know just how difficult she is to work with. One Prediction if Michelle O. ever holds office, elected or otherwise; she will make Sheila Jackson Lee look like Audrey Hepburn by comparison and temperment.
I think that the REAL QUESTION is whether Keystone can save her. The president will approve Keystone, just in time for her re-election...and then change his mind just after.
The question will be whether the people there trust him to go through with the pipeline.
