Finally,'What difference Does It Make? A Glib,Insipid Distinction Without Any Difference.
Noah Diffenbaugh's profile photo Noah Diffenbaugh Shared publicly - 10:34 AM I Say "Global Warming"
Do you say "global warming" or "climate change"?
+Anthony Leiserowitz and the +Yale University Project on Climate Change Communication have released a new poll showing that "_the term "global warming" is associated with greater public understanding, emotional engagement, and support for personal and national action than the term "climate change._"
I often get asked why I say "global warming". The answer is that we have very robust, direct measurements that the mean global temperature near Earth's surface has been increasing. Hence, "global warming".
I do also say "climate change", when referring to changes in the patterns of temperature, precipitation, winds, and other climate variables.
You can read the full report from +Anthony Leiserowitz et al. here: http://environment.yale.edu/climate-communication/article/global-warming-vs-climate-change/
You can see the global temperature record here: https://www2.ucar.edu/climate/faq/how-much-has-global-temperature-risen-last-100-years
You can read an article in +Scientific American about one example of climate change that was recently identified by my +Stanford University graduate student +deepti singh here: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/indian-monsoons-are-becoming-more-extreme/

Being infested with idiots is nothing new in this world. I suspect every generation throughout history has had it’s own version of gloomers and doomers. Somehow those generations managed to gradually advance and I suspect we will to.
I, for one, am sick and freakin' tired of the surrender monkey "we can't win" mindset...especially since we haven't yet begun to fight. If you're not willing to get your nose bloodied -- figuratively speaking, of course, but literally if need be -- you're no good to us. Go expat like so many other cowards on FReep, and "may posterity forget that you were our countrymen (Samuel Adams)."
Dawgs, heads up...our "buddy", Alex the Worm, may be showing up on this thread...it's just his speed.
Dawg Soldiers up! Grrrrr....

You’re point is well taken. And my comment was merely to make point as well. And no I am not surrendering. But reading this guy’s statement, the determination, conviction of his beliefs made me realize how our very real problems are. and that there are people like him who are only going to get in the way, vying for the same resources we need to resolve our real problems, money, resources with kooky, self-defeating solutions that is only going to make things worse.
That’s a very difficult set of circumstances to have to deal with, deluded people who have an agenda that is as fake, phoney and fraudulent as anything imaginable, looking to try and fix what for all intents and purposes is a sisyphean even if we could manage t accomplish what these hare-brained idiots think they could ever do.
I’m an optimist. I’ve seen huge changes in Michigan in the last several years and they didn’t come as a result of despair or anger.
In the case of the Obama birth certificate issue, I have never believed he was eligible but decided pretty early on that it wasn’t going to be enough to remove him and wasn’t worth wasting time on.
Overall I’d like to see more optimism from conservatives. Less what we won’t do and more what we will do for all of America.
I prefer "phoney crisis for instituting global socialism"
But I don't share the OPs pessimism. The European elections are an early sign that liberal nonsense is unsustainable - and that includes the PCFIGS.
And look at Australia where the new government has done a 180 on the previous socialist government warmist stand. They slashed agw research by 90%!

This is a link to today’s Joe Bastardi Saturday Summary. I have learned so much from these and Joe’s Twitter feed. He has more charts than I know what to do with, but it is fun to learn the meaning of the charts and use them to argue in any forum I can argue in.
The AMO will flip, the polar ice will return, people will realize that they have been lied to, and they will be pissed.
No they won't. Human nature teaches that a society that no longer holds to moral absolutes will prefer the lie and will go to extreme measures to protect the lie and demand the lies continue to be told.
Isaiah 30:10: "(a people) who say to the seers, Do not see, and to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions,"
You know, I can’t understand why the widespread delusion that CO2 is a problem is so upsetting to those of us who know better.
There is a clear and obvious solution to their “CO2 crisis” that would be good for everyone on the planet - a safe, inexpensive energy source that produces zero carbon emissions. It doesn’t depend on whether the wind blows or the sun shines, and it can be installed virtually anywhere. There is no rational reason not to make it the primary power source for all mankind.
I am talking about nuclear power, of course. And not the idiotic boiling water reactors that have given nuclear a bad reputation and megatons of radioactive waste. We need thorium molten salt reactors and pebble bed reactors, and these global warming bedwetters would be natural allies, they just need to have their energy directed to something useful.
We should all be engaged in respectful dialogue, but always reminding these numbskulls that if they are truly serious, they should be signing petitions and organizing protests in favor of clean, safe nuclear power. we should also urge them to consider that they can probably win over people like us if they focus their arguments on the economic, social and environmental benefits of nuclear power.
There is common ground, we just have to be willing to strive for it.
Overall, I would like to see conservatives be more honest with the American public about problems that threaten our national survival and show more passion.

What I see in tat chart is that there was a flat period from 50s to 75 (no hydrocarbons burned tn?), they arbitrarily start in 1880, the last 16 years have been flat. And total change is 1 degree, which even by teir own projections does very little over the next 100 years.
This could just as well be a peak. They better get their grant money quick.
