CURL: Is Obama really that stupid?
The Washington Times ^ | June 4, 2014 | Joseph Curl

Posted on 06/05/2014 9:45:50 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

There’s something very odd going on these days at the White House.

How else to explain the Bowe Bergdahl debacle? Team Obama, which games every move it makes to gauge the political leverage gained or lost, must have known the true story about the Army sergeant who his former comrades say was disgruntled with the war and simply walked away.

If the charge of desertion is true, why trade five top-level Taliban terrorists for him? Why would the White House expose itself to such easy criticism? Why would President Obama so clearly violate the law that requires him to notify Congress 30 days before any release of prisoners from Guantanamo Bay?

And why on earth would the president send National Security Adviser Susan Rice, she of the multiple lies on the Benghazi attack that left four Americans dead, to the Sunday talk shows to proclaim that Sgt. Bergdahl had “served the United States with honor and distinction”?

There can be only one answer: Mr. Obama saw more upside than down with the hostage-for-terrorists trade. Aside from changing the subject from the president’s latest scandal — the horrendous treatment of veterans at the nation’s VA hospitals — Mr. Obama must have concluded that the controversial move would, in the end, deliver him political leverage against Republicans, which he sorely needs going into what is expected to be a bloodbath for Democrats on Election Day 2014.

Of course, part of the calculation was that the U.S. media would once again defend Mr. Obama. And while some news outlets have run stories about the puzzling details behind Sgt. Bergdahl’s “capture,” others are adhering to the White House talking points....

Soon, the entire mess will be plunged into a “blue ribbon investigation,” allowing administration officials to refuse comment.

And after that, it will be "old news".

Obama is going rogue and he doesn’t care what people think or who he hurts...including Democrats.

With the Susan Rice issue; Obama is laughing at America. He is amused by how much congress and the voters will take without any push back.

With the larger point of the "Taliban Trade", the appearance of stupidity is probably a smoke screen to keep the media busy while something sinister is going on behind the smoke screen.

Yes, he certainly is. His incredible stupidity does not obviate his tremendous mendacity though.

I think recent history has shown that Obama is NOT presidential material.

Personally, I think Obama is just trying to see what he can get away with, and despite every unconstitutional action he has taken, he still cannot get congress to impeach him.

He is trying to get a clean exit before the balloon goes up, and he is left handing the bag to prove he cannot lead in a time of crisis.

He knows LIKE Bill Clinton, that even impeachment will not keep the press from singing his praises as the best president in American history.

He wants out NOW!... he thought he was gonna get a clean out in 2012, but it didn’t happen.

He can’t quit... he’s too proud to quit. He wants a political war with which to scorch the earth with as he leaves... and an indefinite excuse for the mess he has left us with.

With the media covering his ass regardless of what he does, with GOPe “leaders” afraid of their own shadows, with a good 60 percent of the people either backing him or not caring, why should he worry about anything.

This will be old news in a week - on to his next item on the agenda.

And this little scandal did a great job of covering up the even greater EPA atrocity of essentially shutting down coal generated electricity, and the VA debacle. Maybe he’s not all that dumb?

>> He is amused by how much congress and the voters will take without any push back.

Boehner is so “hell bent” for amnesty that he ridiculed his own party, “Ohhh don’t make me. Ohhh that’s too hard”.

Well Johnny, duty calls. Obama has returned to the enemy who has not surrendered 5 of their top leaders. Directly aiding the enemy.

Impeach Obama. It’s your duty. What’s the matter John? “Ohhh don’t make me. Ohhh that’s too hard”.

Put down your drink and get off your asz. Impeach Obama or be charged with misprision of treason, got it Boehner?

The only other news out the day of Bergdahl’s trade was that the EPA had announced rules to set the amount the USA energy sector would be required to reduce “carbon emissions” by 30% over the next 15 years - a cornerstone of Obama’s attempts to “heal the planet and lower the seas.”

It will basically shut down the coal sector and raise electricity rates drastically.

Maybe Obama and his team thought that a few weeks of bad press over Bergdahl was worth it to sneak this whopper past the American public.

If he is so stupid, why has he had total, unconditional victory for 5 years?

Sadly, Curl is right. This is playing out just as all other White Hut scandals have. Soon it will be lost in a murky combination of finger pointing, blue ribbon panels and the November elections dominating the news cycle. The veterans will still be getting screwed, Berghdal will be portrayed as a misunderstood hero and Harry Reid will be croaking on about the Koch brothers. Before you know it, Dude, it will be two years ago. What a pathetic place we have become.....

Congress makes me sick to my stomach. They're supposed to be representing us, supposed to be protecting us, and they're not even on the same grid. We don't want terrorists running back home to grab a suitcase nuke for NY or pouring chemicals in our drinking water to kill our families. Congress is supposed to protect us from that.

Maybe none of them noticed Obama smile when the the traitor's father gave the most famous war cry of Islam.

I noticed.
