John Boehner's Dog and Pony Show
Mark America ^ | June 21, 2014 | Mark America

On Friday, the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives continued its wholly political, and ultimately theatrical investigation of the IRS Tea Party-targeting scandal. Chairman Dave Camp's(R-MI) committee brought current IRS Commissioner John Koskinen before the committee to testify as to the loss of Lois Lerner's emails, among other misdeeds. You may argue that Paul Ryan(R-WI) was very aggressive in his examination of the witness, but that entire exchange was mere political theater that will evince nothing at the end of the investigation

(snip)

The problem may be that to uncover Lois Lerner's email would reveal something no Representative in that committee hearing room wants you to know: Lerner may have been receiving emails from both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill urging audits and investigations into Tea Party groups.

Why stupid?

The GOPe is hateful toward the Tea Party. It would not surprise me to find out that GOPe people were hoping that the IRS would target conservative groups.

The GOP does not really want to get to the bottom of this scandal.
However, they do want to use it as a campaign issue.

After all if they really find the truth, that would require these weak GOP
sisters to actually do something about it. And that is a bridge to far for
these sisters.

Which part is stupid? The detailed technical reasons why losing 2 years worth of emails from 7 people is practically impossible? Or the part where he suspects the reason for the impotent dog and pony show the Republicans are putting on because they are complicit with the Democrats in working with the IRS to quell the Tea Party.

I don’t find it hard to believe at all.

I said the same thing to someone the other day.......that the GOP hates the Tea Party more than liberals and probably was involved more than we think in encouraging the IRS in going after them and I wouldn’t be surprise if there is contact from Establishment types in those missing emails

I do not get why there still exist people that think the GOP is our friend. They told us in plain English we are to be ‘crushed’ and ‘punched in the nose’.

I swear that Bhoner sits there saying “What the hell is wrong with these people? Whadda we gotta do before thy get the freaking point?”

yup..But my synopsis is...(After watching it 3 times).... the GOPE gave him/them all the cracks in their armor that they need to fix BEFORE a Special Prosecutor could find the few remaining trails of dirt...

I read on an earlier thread that Lerner lost (oops!) her hard drive. I don’t know how you ‘lose’ a hard drive, but the article also said it was misplaced ten days after she was made aware that she was in deep doo doo.
So. The seven other people she was communicating with, cc’ing: did they all lose their hard drives too?
Was there some rash of computer thefts going on at the IRS?
Was one of the e-mail addresses something like valjar@wh.gov?

Mitch McConnell said he wanted to declare war on TEA Party people. I wholeheartedly agree that some of these lib RINOS were very approving of the targeting. Not far fetched at all in my opinion.

The GOP Establishment has been telling us for decades that they don’t care about us in so many words and more so in their actions. Even Rush alluded to this a few years ago that in private cocktail parties, some high up GOP guys and gals told him that they are embarrassed by the base and wish that they would just go away. Look at how they keep pushing the Establishment losers for President time and time again while we threaten to sit out the election and yet they still push the guys and basically laugh at us

Wilde, “but also pretty stupid”.

..but also exceedingly naive. The crats are in desperation, anything to deflect focus, buy time...

Actually GOP is playing 3-D chess here. They want to keep the investigation going...drip drip drip...until election time in November. Even if they have evidence of guilt on Lerner, if they expose it, the scandal will be over quickly. Voters will forget all about it by November.

” - - - Lerner may have been receiving emails from both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill urging audits and investigations into Tea Party groups. - - - “

If this is true, then here are a few questions designed to get to “where the buck stops” as follows:

Some of the main questions are as follows:

* Did Rep. Peter King of New York send the most anti-TEA party emails to the IRS?

* Did Speaker Boehner send anti-TEA Party emails to then Sec. of the Treasury, Timmy Geithner?

* In any of the Obama/Boehner “Grand Bargain” discussions, was IRS Harassment of TEA Party Groups ever discussed, by Obama or Boehner, as a bargaining point?

* Did Rep. Darrell Issa of California and Rep. Mike Rogers sign group letters to Geithner or Lerner as Chairmen, or just as regular House Members to slow-walk any TEA party groups through the IRS?

* What role did Rep. Eric Cantor play in encouraging or discouraging continued IRS Harassment of Tea Party Groups?

BTW, similar questions can be raised in the US Senate.
