SAUSALITO, Calif. (CNN/KRON) A swanky California hotel is offering decadent, high-tech accommodation in the hopes of luring high-end guests.
That includes a unique way of delivering room service, via a drone.
You can see in the video that the drone is holding two bottles of champagne on their way to guests. Its a flying bell hop.
I think were going to set ourselves apart, said hotel manager Sieste Nabben.
Nabben is the general manager of Casa Madrona, the hotel and spa that is offering the drone delivery service.
They are located in Downtown Sausalito, right off the water.
I think the drone is currently not part of everyones life, but as technology moves forward, we certainly foresee something that could be part of everyones life, said Nabben.
From the lobby, they will fly the drone to the guest deck delivering whatever a guest wants treats, drinks, toys. They are flexible.
Eventually, they even see the using the drone to deliver things from the hotel out to a boat on the bay. For example, lets say a guest wants champagne delivered out there or maybe a guest left their sunglasses in their room and they need the drone to bring them out their shades.
Its a pretty neat idea, but its time to come crashing down to reality.
Flying drones are not cheap. In the near future it will be, but not yet.
So for now, this is a high-tech amenity for their high-end clientele...

how did they get FAA permission?

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said “We are all just prisoners here, of our out of control drone”
And in the master’s chambers,
They called for help on the phone
“We stabbed it with our steely knives,
But we just can’t kill the drone”
LOL.
Still love the album.
Life in the fast lane best song ever..

I driven past the place many times....dont plan on booking anything there just yet...
Gorgeous place. I used to date a woman who worked there.
The Alta Mira was my favorite place to go eat.
Clever!
I will admit that I didn’t read the whole article. Does one tip a drone?
“The drone must die.” Gwyneth “Pits” Paltrow
It closed.
That view was spectacular.
Maybe the $10K room is a prix-fixe thing, so you wouldn’t have to.
No, you do not tip.
You let it drone on.....
Bundling.
Will these drones be paid a living wage?
Not sure I’m ready to trust a drone with a 1992 Diamond Creek Cabernet Volcanic Hill or 83 Krug Cuvee but, it’s their money if the thing drops it.
Of course that would be horrible and demonstrative alcohol abuse, if it happened more than once....
Of course, if you go to the liquor store and buy the Hill or Cuvee, take it unobtrusively to your room and ice it down in the hotel provided ice bucket it will be a quarter of the cost of ordering room service. The same holds true of Carlo Rossi.
Don’t ask how I know this.
You tried it!
Yeah, I know. But, when your in the mood...
The ol’ Buckeye. Tried and true.
