Six Californias is a proposed initiative by venture capitalist Tim Draper to split California into six states: Jefferson, North California, Silicon Valley, Central California, West California, and South California.

The purpose of this thread is to give some details of this proposed initiative.
The state of North California would be south of Jefferson spanning from the Pacific Ocean to Nevada. North California would consist of thirteen counties: Amador, El Dorado, Marin, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Solano, Sonoma, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba. Silicon Valley
The state of Silicon Valley would span the coastline from San Francisco to Monterey. It would consist of eight counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Monterey.
The state of Central California would be between Silicon Valley and Nevada. It would consist of the fourteen counties north of Los Angeles and south of Sacramento: Alpine, Calaveras, Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare and Tuolumne.
The state of West California would be south of Silicon Valley and Central California, and west of San Bernardino County. It would consist of four counties: Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles and Ventura.
The state of South California would be made up of the southernmost part of the state. It would consist of five counties: Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego.

Unfortunately, we will get 10 Democrat US Senators from the other 5 “states.”

I’d be all for it if my County (San Benito) were in Central California. The way this is drawn...I’d have to vote this down...now way I want to have my home in a Silicon Valley Socialist Republic.
It would be better off for conservatives in the senate than now. Now, for perpetuity, all ca senators will be liberal, corrupt, and possibly stupid. Forever.
In this scenario, about 50% of the senators will either be conservative or at least populist / small government.
50% is better than zero percent.
The big question is the electoral college. The former “California” would then have any representation in the presidency. Now no voter to the right of center does.
Another huge difference will be the new states who FIGHT against illegal aliens overrunning. They won’t have to lose to a fully lib controlled legislature. Even the Central Valley will be able to institute migrant worker policies that make sense.
All in all, it would be better. Though I don’t exactly know how owning property in a liberal stronghold state will fare. How much does having the ocean and weather on your side help, when the taxation will be so high and the other obstacles continue?
I think the folks pushing this idea fancy that two of the new states would be reliably Democrat, two reliably Republican and two toss-ups (both as regards the Senate and Electoral College), figuring that this could get the needed approval from Congress.
I score it as one reliably Republican, two reliably Democrat and three toss-ups. It would definitely be a net boon for the right in Presidential elections, but the effect on Congress would be more dubious.
I think I agree with you here — though, let's be honest with ourselves, there is no functional difference between Democrat and Republican at the Federal level. (Seriously: John McCain? Romney!?)
In that sense it's a terrible idea, giving the Uniparty 10 more senators.

I think that's how they'd push it; to keep the kabuki theater going they need to be able to push the idea that the GOP is looking out for some of its interests — as it is they're losing droves and droves because people are coming to their senses and refusing to vote just for the (R)
