And They Lived Happily Ever After (Coverest thine keyboard)
Indiana Barrister ^ | June 26, 2014 | Abdul Hakim-Shabazz, esquire

Posted on 07/01/2014 12:58:31 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

I didn’t expect to wake up this morning.

Why? Because I thought the world was going to come to an end yesterday. At least that’s what i was led to believe after listening to the wailing and gnashing of teeth over federal Judge Richard Young’s common sense ruling that Indiana’s ban on same-sex marriage, like bans in most jurisdictions, has no rational basis so it was thrown out as unconstitutional.

Hundreds of people lined up at the Marion County Clerk’s Office to tie the knot. A number of them had been together longer as partners than most heterosexual couples have as married. They were happy. They were ecstatic. And I was happy for them.

I know how I felt when I got married on September 5, 2009 (see I even remembered the date, not bad for a guy, huh) and it’s always good to see someone else experience that same feeling.

But despite what was a happy day for a lot of people, the folks who for whatever reason can’t get past this issue could have swore this was last nail in the coffin of the moral decline of America.

I don’t get it and frankly never have.

As I have stated before, same-sex marriage doesn’t infringe on my liberty or freedom, so I have a hard time getting worked up over it. I am also very secure in my sexual identity so I don’t spend all day complaining and obsessing over what my neighbors do behind closed doors.

I also don’t worry about someone trying to use this ruling to marry their pet iguana or trying to engage in polygamy with an exponent because those arguments are just silly.

And to be frank, if the critics of same-sex marriage would spend as much time working on their own marriages as they do freaking out over someone else’s maybe they could live happily ever after too.

I am 54 as of last February. I will bet anyone here a nice, reasonably-priced steak dinner that by my 60th birthday polygamy will be legal in more than two states.

In other words, if voters vote for something that's irrational, it's automatically unconstitutional?

Funny, my copy doesn't mention that. In theory it sounds like a good idea, but what happens when you have irrational judges deciding what is or isn't rational?

I will be 50 this coming February. I'm willing to bet that before I turn 53, there will be open rebellion in this nation, if not all-out civil war. This sh!t can't keep going like this. Something's gotta give.

I am also very secure in my sexual identity so I don’t spend all day complaining and obsessing over what my neighbors do behind closed doors.

The author is living in fantasy world of 10 years ago.

Ten years ago all 'they' wanted was to be left alone, to do their abominable acts in the privacy of their own homes.

Today ... that is not good enough

Now if you are a baker you must be forced to bake them a cake; if you are a pastor you must never call them to repentance or you will be in jail; if you a counselor you must never try to cure them. This is a far cry from "leave us alone."

The author has his head up his liberal rear end believing that all they want is "equality." Thinking people understand that is not what they want ...

That's what they said about the phag marriage arguments, too.

Silly? Why? Because the assclown writer says so?

Polygamy has a foundation in recorded human history for thousands of years longer than the recent invention of gay marriage. What's to stop things from going further down that slope now?

What's to stop threesomes, group marriages or anything else now?

Or to stop the pink mafia from seeking out and destroying first businesses and later churches who refuse to celebrate their perversion. Homos are less than 2 to 3% of the population. Monogamous homos are less than 8% of that subset. That's a combined total of less than one quarter of one percent of the population.

What gives them a special dispensation to redefine marriage?

Add that to female genital mutilation, and you have an entire culture that has been violently sexually traumatized as children.

Makes the REAL reason they run around screaming and killing people as adults pretty obvious - and it doesn't have anything to do with Islam.

Since my one and only, completely original female wife and I(an unaltered male)have been happily married for 37 years I think I can say with some authority that same sex marriages are not real marriages but only a cheap imitation of the real thing.

Granted that homosexual marriage supporters won't buy our "Bible thumping", but the health risks are a rational basis for banning homosexual marriage. That is the same basis for restricting smoking. What is our side waiting for?

...smokers, as a rule, don’t have the money and cultural backing that homosexuals do...

...has nothing to do with facts, or truth...

I understand, but would this be upheld by the SCOTUS? Maybe, maybe not, but what do we have to lose?
