Celebrating the ethnic diversity of America, President Barack Obama said more than two dozen foreign-born service members who became U.S. citizens at a White House ceremony on the Fourth of July are vivid reminders that the country is, and always has been, a nation of immigrants.
He said the vast range of backgrounds and experiences that made America a melting pot for more than 200 years also makes it stronger, but that the immigration system has to be retooled for the U.S. to keep its place as the greatest nation on earth.
"If we want to keep attracting the best and the brightest from beyond our shores, we're going to have to fix our immigration system, which is broken," Obama said...

Limited legal Immigration with a high expectation of standards works. Do you ever watch Deadliest Catch? Which captain is first generation born American and child of immigrants? Can you tell listening to them? Hint he has two brothers on the boat also. One kind of gives it away. It is the Northwestern. Another example although years ago is three of four of the best known to all American Comedian/Actors were brothers American born to immigrant parents. Their immigrant parents raised them as Americans not Romanians. The mom's thick Romanian accent made it difficult to pronounce her three sons names especially Samuel. Moses she could pronounce as well as Jerome. But she had trouble saying Samuel. It came out as Shemp. That's how Shemp of the Three Stooges got his screen name of Shemp. Moe, Curly {Jerome}, and Shemp, were brothers. Acclimation is everything.
I served with a lot of guys who at the time were likely green card holders. Most were cooks and some learned the more challenging rates. I don't remember ever having to write up any Pilipino for not obeying an order, AWOL, or any other issues. I can't say the same for some non whites coming out of NYC, Chicago, Philly, Baltimore, LA, etc who were American by birth and thought their race entitled them to act like rules did not apply.

I'm for putting them on a bus today or on a ship headed south of our national border which is likely faster. Sail to Central America and say ALL OUT! If their parents are here they should be arrested and deported for child abandonment & endangerment.
As a legal alien myself, I am seriously beginning to question the judgment of the average freeper.
Granted, the highest profile, loud voices in the battle, the pro-unrestricted side all have latino names, and that truly embarrasses me.
But I happen to know the others; the millions of legal latinos who've come in the last half century, and who take their oath of citizenship seriously.
Trust me, supporting unrestricted immigration under any rainbows and unicorns argument, appeal to emotion, is not among their qualities of citizenship.

Legal mass immigration is what destroyed America and is destroying us, you cannot keep importing democrat voters by the 10s of millions, and expect anything different than what we have gotten from it.
Calling them legal or illegal makes little difference, except that illegals won’t be voting democrat as quickly as the legals.

Why should a nation of over 300 million people want to keep importing an endless supply of exotic foreigners from violent backwards countries?

Tell you what. One of the best Pediatric Neurologist I've met was from Israel. Some of the better Oncology doctors come from India. A friend of my wife had a disorder several doctors could not diagnose. She'd beat her head into her locker at work, her skin bruised and she'd sometimes blackout. The specialist couldn't help her. A GP in a small rural practice who happened to be from India had seen it before. She had Lupus.
My nieces husband birth born American from legal immigrants has just about finished his Doctorates degree. No one cut his parents any special favors when they came here to be Americans and raise a family accordingly. In the nation his parents came from whom BTW are very nice hard working folk you can live in poverty or if you decide to make the effort you can step up. The immigrants parents have done well for themselves their son more so and not a day on public aid.
The reason this nation isn't recognizable now is because this nation told GOD our Creator whom the Founding Fathers said we could not survive without His providence to GET OUT! First place was schools. The school shooters aren't immigrants. The teacher sleeping with their students aren't immigrants usually. The woman who sued to get prayer removed from school wasn't an immigrant nor is the man who is Executive Director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State that man calls himself a preacher.
You want to know which immigrants brought a lot but certainly not all of this downfall to us? They didn't come from no backwards nation. It was a nation that lead in technology including precision machine making. They came here just a hand full of them after a mad man saw them as a threat to his power and kicked them out of the country. The mad man was Hitler. The ones he booted were Marxist. There is your enemy. It didn't happen in the 197-0's it happened in the early 1930's. An American University invited them here and at that time we did not possess the national security Intel we do today. Today they run our government. "The philosophy taught in the classroom in one generation becomes the policy of government in the next" Abe Lincoln.
While our dads were fighting WW2 they were taking over our education system to use it as a tool. By the mid 1960's we had campus riots which were sparked by Marxist professors. Thus Political Correctness {Cultural Marxism} became their tool. Remember the TV Commercials and signs GOD is dead? This was before our southern borders were open like a sieve.
So should we curse every German who has came here and made a go of it even helped build the nation? My German ancestors built the first paper mill east of the Appalachians and the first newspaper. My British ancestors were in Barnstable, Mass likely in the late 1500's. Another sect came from Scotland in the late 1600's. Some fought at places like Kings Mountain in the Revolution. Another side I suspect was here before any of them.
VALUES is what's missing and a since of Morality. I've been inside places where order was maintained by a dictator who ruled three fractioning sects with an Iron Fist. He ran a Communist nation although not Warsaw Pact aligned. When he died all hell broke loose. It used to be called Yugoslavia. I've been in Brazil and seen one of their worst cities. Morality and accepted standards had been abandoned in that city. The result was orphaned kids living on the street hardened enough to kill you. I don't mean teenagers I mean kids. A 7 year old could cripple you for life. Right now the same thing is arriving by the bus load via Mexico from points south. This is not the same thing as legal immigration.
Again the will of acclimation means everything. But the woes of our nation are caused by our own lack of national morality a choice our nation freely made. As a nation we sing GOD Bless the USA but tell Him to stay out of public especially schools then think we can be blessed? That is what's wrong. It's salvageable. Even Sodom and Gomorrah could have been salvageable and chance was given. They made the wrong choice.

Here is what you can't grasp. Immigrants who gain citizenship through what was our previous requirements were more likely to be conservative than Liberal and actually had an understanding of our history and government. The ones who did so by in large resent the once crossing illegally. It wasn't Amnesty it was something they worked for and a process of learning.

The way immigration used to work and still should work was mainly based on our own economic need. IOW allowing no more than what the labor force could withstand. I'd rather see Americans working here than jobs outsourced overseas. I'd rather see Americans working here than certain corporations demanding factory work be off-shored to meet their everyday low price for a quality reduced piece of still Brand Name but highly reduced in quality junk. It's not just factory work it's white collar skill work is being off-shored now to other nations such as engineering designs.
BTW who was that POTUS that wanted to swing the doors wide open to Mexico including their 18 wheelers on our interstates? Who was the POTUS when he should have been focused on issues in the U.S. was trying to set up another European Union like government in North America? What POTUS and a two house majority paved the way for the abuses of powers by POTUS now seen today by asking for creation of ACTs and new departments now used against us? Who was that Republican?
