Saw this movie yesterday with my daughter who just graduated from very liberal Univ of Washington in Seattle.

Seems like it is not a cheaply made movie. There are lot of realistic enactments of past American history. Graphics and scenes are of high quality. I saw material never seen on MSM. I learned a lot about American history. Even my daughter said "it was intense and a good movie".

This movie should be a required viewing in all high-schools. Obama & Hillary will not be happy about this movie, guaranteed.

I saw it the day it opened on 2 July. One of the best parts was not having to listen to Hussein speak. Every time they showed him the crowed booed and yelled “LIAR!”.

There are several shots of Alinsky speaking. I had never seen this dude before.

This country won’t be saved until the crowds are yelling “NUREMBERG TRIALS!”

I remember watching Saul Alinsky debate William Buckley on the old Firing Line show he had on PBS. Here is a sample.

We saw it on July 4th, and thought it was excellent! I waded over into the DU sewer, and the DUmmies were foaming at the mouth over it, so it is definitely on target.

It is absolutely worth the price of admission.

My only potential point of disagreement with it is its take on the Civil War. When I was in school, one of my teachers said that the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery: that it was about if the South had the right to split away from the Union.

I don’t know if that’s true or not. Frankly, most history books bore me to such a degree that it’s probably more trouble than it’s worth to investigate any farther. The rest of the movie was excellent.

It was surprising to see “America” address the NSA’s electronic surveillance state and Aaron Swartz’s death toward the end of the film. Sure, it’s easy to see liberalism in front of you when Bathhouse Barry gets to work with his magic pen, but there’s a war for digital rights being fought that less technically inclined conservatives don’t know about.

And sadly, a lot of it is being fought by leftist groups like the ACLU.

My favorite parts were Saul Alinksy and Bono, who amazed me with his amazingly candid take on the role of the USA and what Bush (I’m no fan) did for Africa.

It's good to see Alinsky with all of his lies on the big screen coming to life.

I took my 12 year old boy and he loved it too. It was a great film! When they were talking about indentured servants and slavery I was hoping that he would mention that the first slave owner in America was a black man: http://topconservativenews.com/2012/03/americas-first-slave-owner-was-a-black-man/

But then I realized that Dinesh’s goal was most likely to appeal to more ‘low information’ people and I’m glad he didn’t go into the weeds on things like that.

Saw it, loved it. I thought of those I know to whom I’d want to recommend it—many.

It’s really a great piece that will get D’Souza punished further, or becoming a true leader of the movement against academic Leftists and Barry’s ilk, or both.

The theatre company chose (needlessly) to screen the movie in a theatre that had recliners, at a $4/seat premium. Perhaps they wanted to rake the 1%’ers over their own taxation scheme. I’d see it again, but think it petty of them, wondering “what they’ll be doing on Monday” (repeated, inside joke).

In the credits, an actor was given credit for playing Alinsky, despite (some?) seemingly authentic original material of Alinsky himself.

On the technical side I should say the color saturation was turned up too high in post-production and the elevated stern shot of the Pina, Nina and Santa Maria needed heavy CGI re-touching —I know people who would have done that almost for free.

I know people loved the very well-done Revolutionary War scene when Washington goes down (granted that particular bit is critical) but I might have used half of what was allotted to whose 20 seconds to more Alinsky stuff —people are going to jump on me for that, I know, but I would say that scene alone probably required 30 costumed people, plus the crew, food, etc.

I thought the phased-release strategy and targeting of Church congregations was good, I though the early release venues (Houston, Atlanta) were well-chosen. I might have considered also a couple venues in heavily military areas.

I probably would have let Ward Churchill vent with a lot more nasty stuff, but I dunno —he might have been really watching his mouth that day, or perhaps he had final say on the release cut featuring him, I don’t know.

I might have also spent a little time on how conservative blacks are vilified (Dr. Carson, Justice Thomas) and how other minorities are racially targeted by lefties with total impunity (”Dr. Laura has a huge Jewish nose..!” etc etc.), but there are probably good reasons why he didn’t go in this direction.

I also think 30 or so seconds should have been spent on Obama’s (real African) brother (who now lives) in China, who totally hates his drunkard father.

In closing, I did like 2016 better but I’m happy this general format is proving profitable and Dinesh is building a solid brand and proven track-record.

My freepership was suspended on America’s opening day in my area so unfortunately I couldn’t write the timely review his film merited but I’m always going to see Dinesh’s films on their opening days.

He is a really fantastic film-maker and his stories need to be told.

Saw it. Wonderful. I sobbed in a few places. It gave me hope. But we are on a razor-thin edge.

D’Souza was an acolyte of Reagan. He really, really gets it. Hope every American sees this movie. Even some of the old lefties he interviews in the film are shocked by what has been happening.

He looked like he was suffering from hyperthyroid -- bulging eyes. A really creepy dude. Atheist is too good a word for him. He was an anti-theist.

I’ve seen this video of the slime and he and his ilk have destroyed this country. BB’s stab at him at the time seems intellectually benign. BB may have won the debate but SA has up to now won the war. Get this into our heads at FR —SA has won this war. ( bb is bill buckley SA is saul Alinsky) and my glass is half empty. i’m looking for solutions.
