More Opened Eyes to the I-word

A new CNN poll reveals that one in three Americans agree with my call for President Obama’s impeachment. That’s a huge number – especially considering how misconstrued the issue is when relying on media to explain impeachment. Let’s go around the media filters and acknowledge this ourselves: many Americans haven’t heard what impeachable offenses really are; but when they do, more citizens will rise up to hold their government accountable.

On the heels of this new poll, The Hill reports that the Obama White House is now taking talk of impeachment very seriously. They can’t poo-poo this as liberal followers want them to because they know they’ve done wrong.

The article states, “Dan Pfeiffer, a senior advisor to Obama, said Friday that the White House is taking the prospect of impeachment in the GOP-controlled House more seriously than many others in Washington, who see it as unlikely.” Pfeiffer then noted that a large block of the conservative base favors impeachment.

They also note that Team Obama is aware that the illegal immigration crisis is the tipping point. With the president continuing to halt deportations and with his intention to skirt law once again to grant some sort of amnesty by executive fiat, more Americans will join me in calling for impeachment. I’m talking about average, everyday law-abiding citizens who know we must hold our government accountable; I’m not talking about the political elite on both sides of the aisle who only give lip service to the problem of a lawlessp. They mock the idea of actually remedying this extremely dangerous situation because they’re fine with Washington D.C.’s status quo.

Thank you, good Americans who care about defending our constitution and preserving American exceptionalism! It’s so good to know we finally got Washington’s attention. It took the illegal immigration crisis to tip this because Americans know it’s a direct attack on our sovereignty, on American workers of all races and backgrounds (both native-born and legal immigrants who came here orderly, safely; the right, legal way), on our solvency and security. It IS a direct attack, orchestrated by a president who promised to fundamentally transform our nation.

The American worker is the forgotten man in this crisis of Obama’s making. None other than Cesar Chavez affirmed that illegal immigration hurts hardworking Americans as it drives down the wages of our workers seeking good jobs to support their families.

That’s why we see so many Americans of all racial and ethnic backgrounds uniting to protest this border insanity. We are protesting a lawless administration that doesn't respect the will and wisdom of the people. We can affirm the productivity of legal immigration, but we know why we have laws on the books that keep government in check with this issue and all other issues; we know that part of what makes America exceptional is the rule of law. Without rule of law at our borders, in no time we will become as corrupt and dysfunctional as the nation’s immigrants flee to come here. We also know that “no borders equals no nation.”

The president has a constitutional duty to secure our homeland. That means securing our borders. He’s willfully derelict in his duty. This is illegal.

The Washington Post published a bombshell report this week about top officials at the White House and the State Department having been repeatedly warned of the crisis brewing with illegal immigrant children coming through our unsecured borders in massive numbers from Central America. Essentially the illegals are enticed here by Obama sending a message that he promises they may do so. Illegal children and adults from all over the globe are coming in droves to collect what he's illegally promised. His incentives are invitations to not support legal immigration but instead, invasion.

Despite dire warnings, the White House didn’t want to deal with the issue. They were focused instead on Obama’s 2012 reelection and the push for amnesty along with that promised “transformation,” and this burgeoning crisis didn’t look good for the president politically. So Obama willfully ignored it, and our laws, and in fact Team Obama actively stoked this when Obama issued his own version of the DREAM Act. I call him the Dream Weaver because Obama waved his glittery magic wand and took actions that obviously led the illegal immigrants to believe they would be granted amnesty. And that is why they're coming. He caused a trickle of illegals to “necessarily skyrocket.”

In light of this Washington Post report, there are two questions Congress needs to demand answers to: What did the president know and when did he know it?

Recall that those questions were asked of another president who was also the subject of a Washington Post exposé.

So, speaking of the “I word” – IMPEACHMENT – a supporter on Facebook recently asked me: “Do you have any clue why he isn't impeached already?”

Yes, I do actually. Let’s go back to that poll I cited showing 33% of Americans agree with me on impeachment. It’s clear from the way these polls are conducted that most Americans aren't aware of what constitutes impeachable offenses.

The Constitution says “high crimes and misdemeanors” are the basis for this serious remedy. The Framers used that term to mean a dereliction of duty, and the first duty of the president is to enforce our laws and preserve, protect, and defend our Constitution. Alexander Hamilton described impeachable offenses as “the abuse or violation of some public trust.” He called them “political” offenses because they “relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself.”

No serious person who is paying attention can deny that Obama and his administration have abused and violated the public trust and the Constitution.

The White House is counting on the fact that Americans think impeachment is for committing a crime under the penal code. But I’ll keep repeating the truth in order to educate as many Americans as possible.

So, again, let’s be crystal clear on this. Impeachment isn’t necessarily for ordinary criminal acts, nor is it for bad political decisions or differences in opinion. We’re not saying, “Impeach him because his stimulus failed; he coddles Wall Street while dissing Main Street; he recklessly spends our tax dollars on skewed priorities, etc., etc.”

We’re saying he must be impeached for overstepping his Constitutional authority. Here are some examples: he broke the law in changing the Obamacare law by fiat, and he issued amnesty for illegal immigrants by fiat, and he committed fraud on the American people by lying that we could keep our health care if we like our health care, and he refused to secure our borders or halt this border crisis he caused. The list of abuse is long. Allowing any president to continue this lawlessness sets a precedent for future presidents that can allow destruction of our nation.

We’re acknowledging that there’s only one recourse in holding government accountable when led by a president who breaks the law. Remember the Constitution holds the president directly responsible for the executive branch. He can’t just vote “present” and keep feigning ignorance of all the scandals rocking his administration, any more than a mob boss can claim innocence because he didn’t personally do the hit. The buck stops with the guy at the top.

From Benghazi to the IRS and VA scandals, to the NSA spying on innocent Americans, to his Department of Justice wiretapping reporters and giving guns to Mexican drug cartels in Fast & Furious, to ignoring in-house illegal fundraising, I could go on and on.

Impeachment is the Constitution’s answer for a derelict, incompetent presidency, as well as for a lawless imperial presidency. Both describe the unprecedented problem we have with Obama.

In terms of lawlessness, the president is radically changing the way the executive branch does business. He has put us on a dangerous path that will fundamentally change us. With his “pen and phone,” he’s abrogating Congressional authority in violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers. He’s making himself a ruler, not a president. As I said last week, we had a revolution back in 1776 because we don’t do kings.

Making the case for impeachment is not difficult. What’s difficult is having the moral courage and political will to do what is right.

I will keep hammering this issue because it is clearly the only way to stop this president from further abusing his powers. Our founders prepared a future citizenry for such a thing. They crafted the tool for Congress’ authority and obligation to stop this. We’re putting the president on notice.

One out of three Americans are talking about impeachment, Mr. President, because we love this country and respect the sacrifices made to build it. That number will increase as more eyes open to the truth.

At this point, everything Obama is doing is to punish USA. The most disturbing part of it all is that I can’t think or find one single Democrat Senator or House member who’s had enough of it.

Just one Democrat Senator come out and threaten impeachment unless he fall into the Constitutional role he was elected for, then he’s done for. Just one.

There are probably five Democratic senators in the running for November....who really don’t need another stumble created by the White House. As for House Democrats....no real threats...they’ve been purged out of the races of 2012 and 2014 of tough races.

The problem I see...is that if you dragged this into impeachment....then you have Biden in charge. What exactly will he do? Will you have to toss Biden into another round of impeachment? Then what?

It’d be awful easy and simple for the President to just act like he has....make no decisions...and just coast onto January of 2017 to golf 365 days out of the year. If I were him....I’d avoid doing anything on immigration and just let it lay there for the next President to mess with.

From which, one might conclude that every Democrat Senator and Congressman is in favor of what is being done to the USA.

I wonder...

If the Republicans showed more fight, more resolve, would a Democrat or two cross the aisle to join them on this issue.

But nobody is going to take that chance in order to follow the likes of Boehner and McConnell.

More disturbing that than, at least to me, is that We The People haven't already started dumping the proverbial tea into Boston Harbor. The reason he's getting away with it is not that his party isn't opposing him, it's that NO ONE is opposing him...in the Pubbie cloakrooms in DC, or here at home. Every time we point a finger of blame, we point three back at ourselves.

IMHO, we should do just the opposite. Impeach before the elections to motivate the voters to give us a GOP majority Senate to convict Obama after his impeachment in the House............

Even two democrats would leave you far short of the two thirds necessary to convict and remove from office.

This whole talk of impeachment only serves to rally the democratic base. Not only is it a senseless waste of time, it is counter-productive.

A Presidential Impeachment is the nullification of a Presidential election.

Are more than 70% of us Americans DEMANDINDING that nullification now?

No?

More than 50%?

No?

Democrats want us to seek “glory” in a futile, suicidal act.

INSTEAD, let’s work to get the number of Americans demanding Impeachment up past 70%.

Our Congress will follow.....

I tend to agree with what you’re saying. However, I worry about what the next two years will bring. Even if the hapless Pubbies manage to take back the senate, Obama still has a couple of years to run wild. The Pubblies haven’t shown any political or moral courage or indications that they would collar him. They’re all talk.

Its true, the impreachment movement has a downside. But then again, I don’t want Obama and his vortex of national destruction to continue out of fear that it will cause catastrophic and lasting damage.

Gallup just reported that Obama’s approval has dropped to 39%. That is very encouraging and indicative of a national mood change but impeachment is a long and messy process that will never get beyond the senate. IMHO we need to inflict maximum pain on Democrats for getting us into this mess. Many of them are already distancing themselves from him. If they suffer enough damage at the polls, they will be forced to sideline and/or politically neutralize their own president for the next two years. That is probably the best we can hope for short of his own resignation.

I don’t agree that it is politically viable.

I also see our cities collapsing into third world lawlessness over the proceedings, much less an actual impeachment, and all he’ll would break loose over a senatorial removal.

Three reasons Obama wants to be impeached:

1. Democrats KNOW how to play the victim... even when it based on lies.

2. Impeachment opens the wallets of rich guilty white liberal elites. Hopefully in time for midterm elections.

3. It gives Obama a chance to show how powerless the ‘little honest people’ are...

Yes, we can impeach him - AFTER THE MIDTERMS. When democrats want to distance themselves and we have enough power in Congress to make it happen...

Do the math. The democrats have 40 seats in the Senate which are deemed to be safe or are not up for re-election. Even if the Republicans sweep every seat, you still need six democrat votes. It’s not a credible scenario unless you can name at least six of those forty democrats who will vote to convict.

All this Rah Ray win one for the Gipper talk is nonsense. Focus on how you can stop Obama without the impeachment and conviction. That tool isn’t leaving the shed.

Don’t you understand the democrats would like nothing better than to change the subject from democrat policies to republican racism.

Your comment (#32) was spot on!! Excellent!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3185566/posts?page=32#32

Now, if the GOP does not think it is prudent to talk of impeachment before November, let Governor Palin go rogue and see if she can up the figures from 33% to at least above 50%. Then it will be difficult for the media not to follow on.

Some interesting points from from the poll: First the negative one - more than 50% of the sample felt that the president had been about right or not gone far enough in expanding the power of the presidency. However, it was only 4% less who thought the same about President Bush in 2006. Maybe you really do do rulers!

OK, so more information is needed (and remember the poll was “adults” on phone - not the best of samples, probably a lot of LIV:s).

So, on the positive side, the figure 33% for impeachment is higher than the figures CNN compares with for both Clinton and GW Bush (29 and 30%, respectively).

The Boehner lawsuit is not much more popular than impeachment, 41 vs 33%.

So, what do we think the figures would have been like 2 months ago, before Sarah Palin started to talk about impeachment? (There were others before her, for sure, but she is still the one with the media buzz.)

Can she, with the excellent assistance of Obama, Holder, Kerry et co, get these figures to increase further? That is the question.

PS: If it had been a Republican president, what is the likelihood that the headline of this piece would have been that the opinion for impeachment was the highest for more than 15 years (notwithstanding the fact that the difference is not statistically significant)?

As you may or may not know, I am watching this from abroad, so it is hard for me to say whether you are that far gone or not. Given the response in the poll, it appears that “We the people” are not fully aware of the issues. This is something Governor Palin mentions in her op-ed.

If it is true I find it awful, but not surprising, given the mediocre (at best) news media available for those who don’t actively search for news.

However, IMHO this is one type of issue where I think a non-aligned, rogue, media-savvy person like Sarah Palin can do a tremendous amount of good. Not alone of course, but with the help of other good men and women. But, I think she has found the correct approach in this piece, Information, information, information - then it is up to people to start to decide themselves.

Note, I am not saying that this is how this situation must be handled, or should be handled, only that if no one in a leading position (GOP or Democrat) dare to pursue the impeachment question, then Palin’s way may be the only one. And even if it does not get you all the way there, it may still do some good such as scaring the WH from going all out with some of the more outlandish ideas that are being proposed.

Obama is doing everything in his power to destroy the USA and Israel because he hates both..he was raised to hate America, he was brought up by Communists, surrounded by Communists, and started his career in the home of a terrorist..its no wonder he became what he became..he wants to destroy Israel because that is his progressive mentality, that Israel is the enemy and that everyone should embrace Islam..Obama wants all these illegals in America for the same reason the left wants them in America, so that they will have power forever..you will have 20+ million new Democrat voters..that gives them power forever

I’m glad the founding Fathers didn’t have that attitude. Screw their base. Stand up and fight for what you know is right! If you fight with passion and conviction, people will follow.

***...because we love this country and respect the sacrifices made to build it.***

Yes - “and respect the sacrifices”. Leave it to Sarah to put things in total perspective.

Some have referred to Sarah as ‘the American version of Margaret Thatcher’, and I see even that may be an understatement.

Anything less than a Palin/Cruz ticket in ‘16 is tantamount to waiving the white flag to the globalist elites. House and Senate in November; Palin/Cruz two years later.

“People they have flown from Honduras RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR CHILDREN IN YOUR SCHOOLS. And we have NO recourse because......It might be politically risky?”

Well said, KCL. If that thought doesn’t make someone understand the gravity of the situation, I don’t think anything will.

The benefit of an impeachment would be the airing/disclosure of Obama’s high crimes.

Since the old media are complicit in the cover-up, articles of impeachment rather than a nonexistent news chronicle will serve as the permanent historical record of His presidency.

And, if we should not recover our freedoms, if we should continue our head first dive into despotism, history will record that the people of the United States made one last effort to save their republic.
