Hey, Kids, Puph to Majik Dragoon wants you to know: Weed is a Panacea

The Science of Pharmacology Dictates that Any Effective Medication Has Side-Effects.

A medication can't be effective if it has no dangers.

(Side-Effects Management is at the heart of Pharmacology.)

It's magical thinking to promote Weed as a cure-all with no dangers.

As we can see, the Magic Marijuana People are abundant here on this thread and at Free Republic.

Their propaganda is mostly rehashed 60’s New Left lies and rhetoric.

So these people experience the same things others do, yet they use pot. They enjoy pleasant things more and the bad things don’t bother them as much?

There is one thing to be said about weed: People who are stoned don’t tend to get into fights. You can’t say that with alcohol.

It won’t cure her but if it settles her stomach, stems her weight loss, allows her to sleep more and makes her stronger as a result, the efforts of the oncologist will have a better chance of success.

If marijuana actually has beneficial medicinal effects (I don't know but I'm willing to be shown), why must it be smoked? Why not a pill or a patch or a shot, none of which damages the lungs?

On the subject of "side effects," I used to tell my students that there are no such things as "side effects." There are only "effects," some of which we want and some of which we don't, but Nature doesn't care. They come as a package.

"No medical issues in that list".

Nope and 60 to 70% of those who smoke 'medical MJ' have true medical issues either.

My point was that it is magic to users, sorry I didn't get that across....

Why should anyone care what another individual decides to do with his or her body. Anyone who has an addiction to anything is going to abuse it. No one can “fix” an addict. Additionaly, anyone who wants the addictive substance will do anything to feed the addiction.

If you want to destroy your life get caught with it. More people’s lives are destroyed by prosecutions than smoking it. BTW you don’t have to smoke it.

All drugs have side effects. Acetaminophen,Tylenol, causes liver failure. It is added to narcotics to do just that if they are abused. NSAIDs, Advil, have adverse effects on your heart valves, yet these medications, given the risks, are bought over the counter.

What if a plant, grown by you, could provide the same benefit, with lower side effects, than over the counter medicines?

Not to mention how much less of a burden this presents to our over clogged justice and prison systems.

Thanks for implicitly conceding that marijuana has legitimate medical applications. Have a source for your figures?

There is little excuse to smoke pot these days what with all the edibles. Maybe smoking is still done for the ritual of the thing.

That’s what we believe, and it seems to be going in that direction. Besides, it does make her a little high, and it’s nice to see her smile and laugh.

'don’t tend to get into fights.'

Sorry that's a myth. People use pot to build up false courage to do bad things just like some do with booze.

I didn't beleive this before but it's true...

Millions dead from tobacco, alcohol, and pharmaceutical drugs. Deaths from cannabis....zero.

Cannabis is a very effective and safe medication for many illnesses because of how it strengthens and rebuilds the immune system. Do your own research on the Endocannabinoid System. Endocannabinoids are produced by our bodies, phytocannabinoids are found in the cannabis plant and can strengthen the immune system.

While smoking and vaporizing cannabis does have effective medical applications ( just ask the Israelis who are years ahead of everyone else) but smoking anything can be harmful also. The most effective use of cannabis medically comes from medical cannabis extract oil. FECO.

If you or a loved one are sick from an auto immune illness do your own due diligence don’t just write off cannabis like the guy who started this thread. Does cannabis cure everything? No. Is cannabis 100% non toxic and has helped medically millions of sick people? Yes.

When I was in the Navy, I was on a carrier. We couldn’t pull in anywhere outside of CONUS, so we ran liberty boats. I used to stand shore guard watches and we could observe the difference between the senior enlisted, the officers and the lower enlisted. Invariably, the area around the senior enlisted (E-6 to E-9), and the older E-5s, was full of drunks and there would be arguments and fights waiting for the last boat. The majority of lower enlisteds were stoned and they just laughed and ate a lot. Officers weren’t as visible, but they were usually drunks, although, they could get overnite liberty, so we didn’t usually see them at their worse.

If marijuana actually has beneficial medicinal effects (I don't know but I'm willing to be shown),

From post #22:

'“There are many indications for which THC would be a good medicine if you have the right formulations and dosing,” says ElSohly. [...] “Does it lower intraocular pressure for glaucoma patients? Yes it does. Does it reduce anxiety? Yes it does. Does it stimulate appetite? Yes it does,” ElSohly says.'

why must it be smoked? Why not a pill or a patch or a shot, none of which damages the lungs?

'the FDA approved Marinol — a low-dosage formulation of synthetic THC that comes in capsule form. [...] The problem: Marinol is one of only two FDA-approved THC-based drugs and, unlike say, Advil, your body doesn’t absorb it well. Only about 10 to 20 percent of the dose becomes available for your body to use. That makes it unpredictable: For some people, the drug works great; others see no benefit whatsoever, says ElSohly. What’s more, it often makes those who it does work for higher than if they had smoked pot — another absorption issue.'

Marijuana can also be vaporized, which creates no smoke.

I would hate to see it legalized because it would become ubiquitous because it would be so readily available, the stigma (what’s left of it) would be gone, and younger and younger kids would be using it. Not everyone, I understand that, but more people would use and those that use would do it more frequently. Before long, Wwe would have a stupefied population even worse than we now have.

In addition to that, drug cartels would flourish because since it’s legal, people can have it in their possession and how will the cops know whether they got if from a street dealer or a legal dealer? The street dealers will always be able to undercut the legal dealers on the black market because of the tax the government will put on the legal stuff.

The proliferation of street dealers will mean an increased trade in other drugs as well. Besides, how can it be argued that the government can’t tell you what you can put in your body, which is one of the biggest arguments for legalization. If you legalize marijuana, you’ll eventually have to legalize other drugs.

Marijuana is addictive. The marijuana of today is much more potent than anything that was around in the 60’s and 70’s. Will we now have to grow government and create yet another agency to regulate and oversee the standardization of marijuana?

Will marijuana smoking be banned in public places like tobacco smoking? There are already hooka bars, they will just supplant the fake stuff with the real stuff. Then taverns will argue that since marijuana smoking is allowed in hooka bars, people should be able to smoke tobacco in their bars. There are as many tars and nicotine in marijuana as tobacco. So the second hand smoke argument will be gone.

I’m not saying any of this will happen over night, but it will be the catalyst of a steady, generational erosion of society.
