For Mitt Romney, it appears that the third time is not the charm.
On a conference call with supporters today, Romney is expected to take a pass on another White House bid, according to an advance text of his remarks.
“After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I’ve decided it is best to give other leaders in the Party the opportunity to become our next nominee,” Romney plans to say.

You are right. Mitt was a terrible candidate. And Jeb will make a terrible candidate too. Seems to be a prerequisite in the eyes of Rove Inc.
I wonder if they think the Bush name will be an asset? For example, if JEB has to explain how “I’m not my brother” for 6 or 8 months, he’s got no chance.
I wonder if they’ve polled on this already? I bet they have.
Please, we could do much worse. Slaying the tax monster would be a formidable accomplishment. What took Cain down was salacious accusations.

Too bad — we need a strong RINO candidate in teh field to siphon votes away from Jebbie, so they can’t do for him what they did for Mitt — win the primaries with just over a third of the votes.
I don’t know why he would even have to do that in order to get a strong following. We all confess grinning at the billboards of Dubya that read “Miss me yet?” People might well end up saying “that’s good enough, better than Barack.”
I don’t comment on the wisdom of doing that, just the psychology of desiring it.

One less RINO is always a good thing on the surface, but this could actually be a very bad thing.
All of Romney’s RINO voters and contributors will go to JEB(!) in droves, somewhat consolidating his RINO support. If Fat Boy bails, then we’ll have our RINO for the media to hype, while the true Conservative block will be divided with the idiots Santorum and Huck siphoning off all of the Religious/Evangelical voters.
Seems we see this same damn train wreck every four years, and the Republican party NEVER learns. I even still have open primaries. THAT has been a BIG problem in some states. Caucuses are stupid too!
Making room for the third Bush, Jeb the compassionist. Total failure of conservatism, the whole RINO doctrine is a failure.
