Calling Iraq and Syria a "single battle space," Sen. Lindsey Graham said he'd place around 10,000 troops in Syria today if he were president, in order to eradicate the heart of the Islamic State group's attempted caliphate.
That call amounted to one of the most aggressive proposals by a 2016 presidential candidate regarding dealing with Syria, which has been engulfed in years of fighting between the government, rebels and Islamic militants.
In remarks before The Atlantic Council on Wednesday, Graham, R-S.C., said half-measures like arming the Kurds to fight the Islamic State group were insufficient, and name-checked two of his GOP rivals Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul in his critique.
"Sen. Cruz often talks about, 'Just arm the Kurds.' Does anyone really believe the Kurds have the capability, the will and the desire to go and liberate Syria?" Graham asked. "The idea that the Kurds are going to go into Ramadi [in Iraq] as a ground force is not going to happen. The idea that that the Kurds could be the liberating force inside of Syria is a fantasy."(continued)

So? he was a lawyer in the military. F*** Lindsey and anyone else who thinks we need 10,000 troops in Syria.
IIRC, the draft ended in 1973.
Don’t be a jerk, you weren’t exactly jumping out of airplanes yourself.
Graham spent 33 years in service, there is no need to mock that, and military lawyers, are you going to go after Reagan next?
What does that have to do with post 20, and people not enlisting in this America?
Although our population was 100 million larger than it was in 1970, do you think that we had to start accepting 42 year old grandmothers, because the enlistment offices were full of young men, after 9/11?
LOL! That’s what we sent ‘em!
How the f*** do you know what I did in the Army? “Jump out of planes?” No, I was not airborne. Tactical? As much as anyone here. Have you been to the DMZ?
Reagan wasn’t a lawyer in the service, he was someone who did training and public service films. But he volunteered for hazardous duty and had joined the Army before the war was going, so not in the same ballpark as Linda. Get your $#*+ straight before you let your pie hole loose.
So he was in support for 33 years, if you disagree with his position just argue that, there is no reason to mock 33 years of service.
I’ll mock Lindsey all I want, thanks.
So, did you think Bush’s Iraq War made sense? Do you believe Iraq is better off today than when Saddam was in power? It appears to me that wherever there is a possibility of military intervention around the world, Graham and McCain are in favor of it. The fact that Graham was a lawyer in the Air Force really doesn’t make a whole lot of difference to me. Given his age and his too extensive presence in Congress for the past twenty years or so, I somehow doubt Graham was in the AF for 33 years.
LOL, you don’t need to be mocking a man’s 33 years, and I know Reagan’s military better than you, what you have learned about him mostly came from my posts on his record.
Quit playing the drama queen and mocking 33 years and military lawyers, it sounds petty.
By the way, Reagan had not joined the Army before the war, he joined the Army reserves.
“conspicuously happy ass” :0 :)! That’s priceless!
So, would this be to overthrow Bashar al-Assad, or to crush ISIS?
Hard to keep the players straight without a score card.
And even the score card is not too reliable.
Are you 100% service-connected (actually 230% but they don’t go beyond 100) totally and permanently disabled plus housebound? Because I am. Yet I never jumped out of an airplane. How’d that happen? Did I mangle myself in a Remington-Rand typewriter? Fall of a barstool at the NCO club?
My post didn’t say anything about mocking him, but about mocking military service, even we vets shouldn’t be mocking 33 years of military service, and pretending that he didn’t serve.
Message received.
Mission accomplished.
Time to pack it in.
Actually my primary disability came from a bad parachute jump with German special forces.
I don’t know how you got injured.
If you can be sent to war, you’re in the Army. And I worked for the president. Geez, don’t you ever listen?
What’s the matter Linda Graham ? The gay camle brothels not doing to well in Syria’s cival war ?
