Good post. Well reasoned article, an excerpt:

Trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt here b/c he did make contradictory statements......Comey actually did not let Hillary completely off the hook.

Comey pitched out a boomerang that's slicing back to cut Hillary to pieces. Sounds good to me.

Comey’s choice of words was a compromise decision designed to protect Hillary. If he had said she did nothing whatever wrong, the backlash would have been worse. It allows the Democrats to say that she made a minor mistake, thus serving to cover up the fact that she got off scott free.

The one true clear and convincing act this man could have done is to say “go forward with prosecution”.

Regardless of what this coward said or did (equivocations and admonitions of perceived guilt and faults), no recommendation to go forward with prosecution gave Clinton exactly what she needed - an edict of “no guilt” because there will be no prosecution. Reason for the willing MSM to lie and equivocate with a sense of legitimacy.

He is a coward and a traitor in my opinion and he heads an organization that is corrupt and evil through and through from the gate house up to the executive floors.

I posted the same conclusion yesterday. I would have preferred if Comey did the honorable thing and announced his resignation in protest before laying out the case against her. But in any case, he DID lay out the case and it was clear that she committed numerous actionable violations. He made his case against her and then as plainly as anyone in DC ever says anything he said that the AG’s office has refused to indict.

This may actually hurt her politically. Some of my friends were chatting about this on FB yesterday. They are pretty much non-political and “middle of the road” types. They were not at all happy about yesterday’s news. She is above the law and is unethical, they wrote among other things.

This could be very well playing out across the country right now. What people know about the Clintons, they are unethical, dishonest, untrustworthy. After yesterday, add to the list, incompetent and above the law.

Comey’s job was to investigate and recommend indictment, if warranted. He did not do his job. He should have recommend charges and let the DOJ fall on its sword. Wouldn’t have changed the outcome, but doing it this way, Comey has no honor, did not do his duty, and is a traitor to the country and the constitution.

I agree Comely did what he could to prove Hillary’s criminal actions

Once Obama endorsed her and announced he was going to campaign with her it became the FBI versus the president and no way that was going to happen so he did the next best thing by laying out her criminal actions

I was actually thinking g along these lines and was going to phrase it as: Did Comey set up Hillary for charges should Trump win? His phrasing defines ‘gross negligence’

Then if he wants to regain his lost honor, and that of the FBI, he must resign, and describe who and when he received those orders.

Not cutting Comey any slack because he is ( with the power of the Federal Government behind him) going after what little privacy we have remaining in our lives. He is the face a government which believes the feds have the right to access all areas of the lives of every American citizen through the front or back door, with or without notification in the name of security.

Anyone of us could be a terrorist, donchaknow.

He lied when explaining his recommendations. He lied about previous cases. He lied about no intent.

Comey lied to protect Clinton. He tried to split the baby hoping to save as much of his reputation as he could. Massive Fail.

Tell that the American commenters on the Guardian. They refuse to look at the details and instead focus on the fact that “she did nothing wrong.”

Please post at least an excerpt of the article. Canada Free Press is not a restricted site for posting on FR.

A day later, I’m still trying to make sense of why James Comey would choose to do what he did yesterday. If you just don’t want to recommend charges against Hillary, the logical move would be to say as little as possible, talk about how the case doesn’t rise to the level of prosecution, and leave the stage.

By talking at length about all the evidence that clearly shows Hillary was guilty of at least gross negligence in her handling of classified information – which is absolutely a criminal violation regardless of intent – he might as well have been waving a banner that proclaimed “The Fix Is In.”

Plenty of people who know Comey and respect him both personally and professionally are bewildered at why he would go into so much detail about the evidence against her, only to then announce he would not recommend charges on the flimsy notion that he couldn’t find another case like it that had been prosecuted. It was so flimsy, the more I think about it the more I wonder if everything is as it appears here.

If he was a man of integrity, instead of saying “no reasonable prosecutor would bring charges” why not say, “I would have recommended the following charges xxxxxxxxxx however, I've been told that Loretta Lynch, under order from Obama, will not bring the charges forward.”

‘Excusers’ are trying to make lemonade out of this lemon.

Comey is a part of an administration that routinely violates existing laws.

Both chambers of Congress is just as inept because the most they do is hold hearing that never result in any action.

Like it or not, Hillary won.

Will voters punish her by voting against her? The election is still several months away. The media are expert at providing cover for Clinton.

FoxNews played clips similar to those in the new Trump ad — Comey contradicting several Clinton comments. Will anyone care by November?

An addendum to “The Fix Is In” theory, and clearly the fix was in.

Who were all the senders and receivers of emails to HRC that included the classified content feloniously stored on Hillary’s email servers - that everyone in the Administration were widely aware (Comey’s words) she was using?

Obama? Comey himself? Jarrett? Biden?

Perhaps the “grossly negligent” party in this was discovered to be BHO himself. Remember, early in his administration he had a Blackberry fetish too.

If he was under orders to let Hillary skate, then he should have recommended charges anyway at the end of his remarks and then resigned. Or he should have refused to even get out there and resigned. Or he should have blown the whistle and said he was ordered to let her skate and then resign.

He's just one more gutless, unprincipled government hack.

Fittingly enough, the US began its decent to a thoroughly corrupt banana republic with a Clinton, when a president obviously guilt of perjury and obstruction of justice was allowed to remain in office. Now the descent is completed with another Clinton, not only guilty as hell and left unpunished, but soon to be the president.

The brainless, gutless wonders known as republicans contributed mightily to the entire sad saga. In one or two generations max, the US will be a third world hellhole.

Under orders to let Hillary skate, Comey decided to make her guilt clear

I've considered that possibility. We will never know what the purpose was behind his statement. But I really believe that this works in Trump's favor. If she were indicted the Dems would respond to any criticisms by saying "we need to let the system work." Now, they won't be able to lay that card on the table.

I also believe that it is likely that Trump will be ready to turn up the heat after the nomination. We don't want her so badly damaged that the Dems nominate somebody else. She really is, in my opinion, their weakest candidate. So, laying out all the evidence the way Comey did but refusing to recommend an indictment could actually the best outcome for the Trump campaign.
