great post...nothing like a middle digit salute to calm a serious international incident with the Olympic host country....a most effective way to restore good will..although you could have pulled down your panties and showed them your butt...

How about this? F*** that third world pretentious "Socialist Paradise" banana republic known as "Brazil."

It is only an "international incident" because the fainting pansies in the Brazilian government turned it into one.

Till they started their "reputation rehabilitation" I thought of it as just a small time robbery in a population of millions. (6.45 million (2014)) Now I see it as a "save face" kabuki dance on the part of hyper sensitive Brazilian authorities.

"Show trials" pretty much sums it up.

Apparently they did make up the story and that they had lied about the robbery. Not sure why they did not just keep quiet about the whole incident.

Impressive. Took you a long time to write that. Obviously you’re quite passionate in your defense of Mr. Lochte. Who has now apologized for lying.

What part was made up? The facts as they have so far been presented support the robbery claim.

When all of the involved athletes are safely back in this country, I will listen to their recantations and take them with a measure of seriousness if they choose to affirm them.

So long as one of them is trapped in Brazil, I will take with a grain of salt any asserted admission of guilt on any of their parts.

I think they were robbed, and the Brazilian police have pressured and continue to pressure that one still in their custody to say what the Brazilian government wants them to say.

Till that last hostage is released from Brazil, I will disregard any coerced confessions.

The facts still demonstrate that they were robbed by some uniformed man with a gun.

Dear n00b,

1) This rough draft needs work.
2) Blog-pimping is frowned upon here.

Also I type 72 words a minute and think D@mn fast, so no, it didn't take me very long to write that.

Really doubling down on your support for these ding-a-lings in spite of all the evidence and their own admissions aren’t you? Well.... good for you.

Well it is still a possibility, and is what I originally thought. Of course if he is lying now then no one will believe him if he changes his story yet again. At least that is my opinion. Supposedly there is video that shows them breaking down the door to the bathroom, though when I followed the links it either says the video is currently not available, or is no longer available (can’t really remember the exact wording), which seems strange as well.

That they were ding-a-lings I will admit. As for evidence, the only evidence I have seen shows they were being subjected to what looked to them like a robbery. That a gun was pointed at them has been clearly established beyond a reasonable doubt. That money was extracted from them at the point of a gun has also been established beyond a reasonable doubt.

As for their admissions, were my friend being held hostage by a third world banana republic, I would admit to quite a lot to get him released.

But then this is what one has to do when dealing with third world banana republics.

Go to Brazil! Get robbed twice! Once by crooks, and then by cops!

Some one of them is saying that $400.00 was taken. It is only the Brazilian police saying that it was $50.00.

Now Brazil wants $11,000.00 donated to charity to let the man have his passport back?

Third world shakedown is what it looks like to me.

Good job of putting this incident into perspective.

As you can see by even some Freepers' over-reaction of this over-hyped baloney, the public is easily manipulated into whatever narrative the Media desires.

On "Good Morning America" this morning they showed video released by Brazilian police that shows a man ripping down a poster. If they had stronger evidence, wouldn't a rational person have shown it?

Why would they show this trivial nothing when they could show a man kicking in a bathroom door?

The reporter on "Good Morning America" showed a door that looked old but not damaged in any great measure. He did not show the interior of the bathroom, or any testimony as to what was supposedly damaged inside that bathroom.

But the fact remains, you do not point a gun at someone for petty and possibly inadvertent acts of vandalism, and you most definitely do not take their money without the police being there to insure that it is all on the up and up.

Now let me make something clear. I abhor "Ugly Americans." When you are in a foreign country, you should present yourself as a decent and respectable person, and you should not act as though you think you are better than anyone else.

You are a guest in *THEIR* culture, and you should behave in a manner as befits a guest. Obviously getting so drunk that you can't behave is stupid, but drunks lose their ability to behave properly with excessive intake of alcohol.

Since most people know this, it is not rational to expect them to get the details of a drunken incident perfect.

And this is the gravest problem this nation (and the world I think) currently faces.

People are too easily led by those who control the information streams.
