The FBI did not corroborate the CIA’s claim that Russia had a hand in the election of President-elect Donald Trump in a meeting with lawmakers last week.
A senior FBI counterintelligence official met with Republican and Democrat members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in order to give the bureau’s view of a recent CIA report. The official did not concur with the CIA, frustrating Democrats.
The CIA believes Russia “quite” clearly intended to send Trump to the White House. The claim is a bold one, and concerned Democrats and some Republicans who are worried about Trump’s desire to mend relations with an increasingly aggressive Russia. The CIA report was “direct, bald and unqualified,” one of the officials at the meeting told The Washington Post Saturday.
The FBI official was much less convinced of the claims, providing “fuzzy” and “ambiguous” remarks.
The different conclusions reached by the two intelligence agencies is a reflection of their different institutional styles. CIA officials often use past behavior and analysis based on gathered intelligence to advise leaders, whereas the FBI comes from a more legalistic background which relies on hard evidence to make a case.
The White House announced Friday that President Barack Obama ordered a full-scope investigation into the allegations against the Kremlin. Obama wants the investigation to be completed before he leaves office in late January, and intends to declassify as much of it as possible. Legislators want to accompany the report with a congressional investigation.
“Only in this way can the American people know the extent of Russian interference and we can attempt to inoculate ourselves against continued meddling in our elections,” Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking member of the House intelligence committee, told the Washington Post.
Rep. Devin Nunes, the chairman of the committee, sided with FBI’s assessment.
“There is no clear evidence — even now,” he told the Post. “There’s a lot of innuendo, lots of circumstantial evidence, that’s it.”
Proving once again that nowhere is there a larger collection of people claiming to know the truth about something who don’t have the foggiest idea of what they are talking about than in Washington DC.
I know the FBI ctully accomplishes things (like catch crooks), frequently, or so they say. What does the CIA do, besides politicize intel?

Pardon me, but didn't Obama/Hillary try to "mend relations" with Russia a few years back... and it failed. So why are they upset a winner can now give it a shot?

I believe the CIA is currently run by Brennan, a convert to Islam and therefore at ease with lying.
That's how you know the current round of propaganda is just that: propaganda. The CIA is smart enough to know that they don't have anything even remotely resembling proof, but somebody has decided to pretend they do for political reasons.
Saying they "know" the Russians were trying to help Trump is roughly as stupid as talking about wiping a server with a cloth.
That one CIA guy said there are both white hats and black hats in the FBI and CIA in a struggle for power. My guess is the FBI has more white hats, and the CIA has more black hats.
Pompeo needs to fire most of the ranking diuchebags at the CIA once he gets in.

If you notice....there’s not a shred of evidence that supports their claim....just humble opinion. I suspect if you did ask them under oath...they’d say it came from talks with the French and Germans. So you’d go to them and ask for proof. They’d say it came from the Italians. So you’d go to the Italians, and they’d say they heard this from the Turks. On and on and on.
It’s all fake.
Still cannot see why Russia would want to interrupt progress being made in obama/clinton endeavors to decimate United States armed forces.

Any time you use ‘unnamed sources’ in political news stories you expose yourself as liars and political hacks. Which the NY times and WashPo has done.

What is really interesting the same media that was totally disinterested when Obama was caught on an open mic telling Russian President Medvedev: “Tell Vald that I’ll have more flexibility once I am re-elected” is now all up in arms.
