Ryan video: We need to simplify the tax code so you could file on a postcard

An idea so great . . . we've heard it many times before. Now will someone please make it happen?

Not remarkable: A Republican officeholder says the tax code should be simplified to the point where you could file your taxes on a postcard. We’ve been hearing this since the days of Ronald Reagan at least (maybe people were saying it before that but I would have been too young to remember), and it’s one of the few policy ideas that Republicans of all stripes can agree on, at least in theory. That said, no one has ever advanced a serious bill designed to make it happen.

Somewhat remarkable: The Republican officeholder saying it now is the Speaker of the House, who is in a very strong position to potentially make it happen, and who actually put a fair amount of effort into developing a video that makes the prospect of not adopting this change seem pretty insane. Hmmmmm . . .

Simplify it so that once you’ve filled out your W-4 the day you start work, you never again have to even think about it. Ever. Its not your problem.

Lets return to founding principles. Get rid of the IRS and the so called graduated income tax. The government can live off of the types of taxes specifically mentioned in the Constitution.

First off, pay the debt down to zero by dedicating a tax on stock and bond trading of an amount TBD. Get the Congress back in the money business, and kick the Federal Reserve out of the country it “pretends” to serve.

Better yet, start with the dumping of the Federal Reserve, default on that debt, and mint US Currency. We don’t need the stinking IRS, we could easily run the government off of a small tax on trades and capital gains, which are the only legitimate income source that deserves taxation, not the wages of workers.

The income tax was sold to the American public on the basis that “ the average worker will never pay one thin dime”. Little we knew that meant the crooked politicians would steal almost everything else we earn. (And yes, it started out on a post- card fileable basis.

There is as much chance of this happening as there is of actually repealing Obamacare or actually removing all the illegal aliens.

It will only happen when all your finances are handled on government computers and they simply take what they want and leave you the rest.

What TPTB like about the income tax over other taxes is control. The control is what they won't give up. The ability to punish you for this and reward you for that is what they want.

This line is trotted out only during re-elections, or when they are in trouble.

They have no intention of doing this.

Thank you for referencing that article Sean_Anthony. As usual, please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Simplifying federal taxes is not just a matter of prudent money management.

More specifically, and with all due respect to mom & pop, if parents were making sure that their children are being taught the fed’s constitutionally limited powers, then based on the following Supreme Court clarification of Congress’s limited power to appropriate taxes, citizens would probably be more careful who they are voting for with respect to unconstitutional, vote-winning social spending programs.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States."—Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!

Remember in November ’18 !

Since Trump entered the ’16 presidential race too late for patriots to make sure that there were state sovereignty-respecting candidates on the primary ballots, patriots need make sure that such candidates are on the ’18 primary ballots so that they can be elected to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp.

Such a Congress will also be able to finish draining the swamp with respect to getting the remaining state sovereignty-ignoring, activist Supreme Court justices off of the bench.

In fact, if Justice Gorsuch turns out to be a liberal Trojan Horse then we will need 67 patriot senators to remove a House-impeached Gorsuch from office.

Noting that the primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire in February ‘18, patriots need to challenge candidates for federal office in the following way.

While I Googled the primary information above concerning Iowa and New Hampshire, FReeper iowamark brought to my attention that the February primaries for these states apply only to presidential election years. And after doing some more scratching, since primary dates for most states for 2018 elections probably haven’t been uploaded at this time (March 14, 2017), FReepers will need to find out primary dates from sources and / or websites in their own states.

Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal government’s powers.

Patriots also need to find candidates that are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal government’s limited powers listed below.

They have been talking about a ‘simplification of the tax code’ and ‘energy independence’ for decades but I doubt to see it happen any time soon.
Government does not trust the American people to use its money wisely.
