At least 196 police officers have been injured in protests in the streets of Hamburg, Germany, where the G-20 summit is taking place.
The demonstrations, which began Thursday ahead of the summit, continued Friday as thousands of officers clad in riot gear sought to prevent the mostly anti-capitalist protesters from disrupting the summit. One officer suffered a fractured limb, police said.
Large fires burned in the streets of Hamburg after a second day of violent demonstrations. Protesters looted nearby buildings as well.
While some groups of protesters staged peaceful demonstrations, others torched vehicles and hurled objects at officers. Police used water cannons to disperse rowdy protesters who came too close to the summit venue....

Why don’t they have this damned summit on an aircraft carrier in the Caribbean? Fly everyone to it by helicopter. And shoot anything that comes near it even faintly looking like a protest. I’m wondering if G20 “needs” the publicity of the protests ... otherwise why not make it protest-proof?
There are plenty of islands all over the world that are almost impossible to get to without permission.

This is an example of why most news people are held in such low regard. If people are walking on the sidewalks carrying signs, and chanting or something, that's a protest. When they torch vehicles and hurl objects at police officers, that's a riot, and most news people can't/won't be honest enough to distinguish between the two.

I’ll agree with that. Let the Russians roll tanks over the rioters, if the Germans are too pathetic to control them.
Can’t understand why the continue to hold the G8, G20, etc. in EU third world countries instead of 1st or 2nd world countries.
I can see some promise for the water cannon. Need a way to put some pea gravel in the stream though
