The Recused AG’s Days Are Numbered, And So Are Mueller’s
DB Daily Update ^ | 7.25.2017 | David Blackmon

AG Jeff Sessions is most likely going to be fired in the coming days, as President Trump has had enough of his reluctance to focus the Justice Department’s efforts towards the prosecution of crimes into the abuses of Obama-era officials, and due to his decision shortly after taking the oath of office to recuse himself from anything to do with the Russia collusion fantasy play. AG Sessions is a good man, but his decision to focus on things like asset forfeiture for drug dealers and prosecuting violators of marijuana laws have indeed reached the point of absurdity.

But it is Sessions’ recusal decision that is especially vexing and inexcusable. Sessions viewed it as his legal duty, but The President obviously considers the decision to have been an effort by Sessions to insulate himself from controversy. Though it may have technically been a proper move, no Democrat Attorney General in recent history would have even remotely considered doing such a thing, and there is no good reason why, if Sessions’ testimony before congressional committees is true, he should have done so either. That recusal enabled Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein to appoint his buddy Bob Mueller to mount his limitless witch hunt as Special Counsel. I like Jeff Sessions, but his priorities are not the priorities of the boss, who referred to him in a tweet yesterday as “beleaguered.” This morning, he added this: “Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!” That’s frankly an inexcusable way for the President to treat a man who has been one of his loyal supporters from the start, but it’s a pretty strong hint of what’s coming, Jeff. A smart man would take that hint and resign with dignity.

Sessions is a good and civilized guy. But we need to pitbull-shark machine that will go after Obama’s goons, Hillary’s crimes and the people who allowed her to walk free and then go after Mueller for acts of treason!

I still say Sessions is an insider and insiders are friends before prosecutors... he can’t stand to take them on after he sat with them in congress under obama as president and hillary as SS. His allegiance is not to the new President who has an agenda to rout all of them.. change things.. investigate their crimes and drain the sewer. Sessions probably does not see them as swamp or sewer.

I think he’s a good man too... by the book type... and that kind does not rout or ruffle or drain.

No kidding - the asset forfeiture is a blatant violation of the rights of people who may not have been convicted or even charged with any crime, and the prosecution of marijuana offenders runs counter to growing state decriminalization of marijuana use. Sessions is busy obsessing about the wrong things and recusing himself from what matters. Trump made a mistake with this guy, and the best way to deal with a mistake is to fix it and move on.

I agree that a Dem AG would never have recused themselves. Being a woman or minority helps on that score.

IMO, just his aggressive stance on asset forfeiture alone makes him anti-liberty and therefore an enemy of the people.

He knows damn well asset forfeiture is the same as Bills of Attainder, specifically prohibited in the Constitution, and yet he issues new DOJ guidelines expanding Fed power wrt this very thing? He is anti-Constitution which makes him anti-liberty, and anti-We The People. And this is just one issue among several with this guy.

He deserves the same contempt previously reserved for the hard core commies because a Tyrant is a Tyrant, regardless.

If they are numbered then why haven't we hit zero yet?

Sessions' laid back "Southern Gentleman" style is way too weak for this job. You'll never rid the Government of "the Deep State" traitors with this style. But the FIRST thing his successor must do is fire Mueller and also Rosenstein, who appointed him!

Sessions vs Trump shows the stark difference between a business and political background.

Yep. Look how fast Senators are rushing to cameras to defend Sessions today. They RARELY give the same courtesy to Trump. POTUS is trying to show his base that swampers look out for themselves only.

“Sessions is a good and civilized guy”

I disagree, there is a saying “Take one for the Team.” Sessions failed to do this not standing up to the AG position and now not resigning.

Sessions should have told Trump up front he would probably recluse himself as AG. He failed IMHO.

So now he has 2 options IMHO:

1. Resign (you f’d your boss)
2. Unrecluse and fix things. Imagine the storm if that happened.

The AG is supposed to serve at the pleasure of the president, carrying out the agenda and priorities as determined by the President.

Since Sessions refuses to follow his bosses priorities and direction, he needs to resign or be fired, NOW.

Sessions is part of the deep state. He was put there to fight Trump and protect Hillary. I don’t trust Pence either.

Trump should make some huge recess appointments then clean house.

Nor do I have confidence in Mad Dog. The transgenders are still being allowed to take over the army. You don’t rise to that level in the military unless you’re a yes man to the political machine.

Thank you for your post. The first cogent argument I've seen this morning on why Sessions should be fired. I agree that AG Sessions is focusing on the wrong things here.

I'm not a marijuana user and I just don't understand why AG Sessions would choose to prosecute those who use it when this country has so many other larger criminal problems to deal with. Seems to me to be a complete waste of Federal resources and not a priority for which I voted for President Trump.

For the record, I personally believe that legalization of marijuana is a States Rights issue, something of which Senator Sessions used to be a staunch proponent of.
