In just hours (1pm Eastern Time US) the Conservative Party MP's are holding a snap vote on Theresa May's leadership of the Conservative Party. Enough Tory MP's signed letters (48) to trigger the vote in opposition to her Brexit plan.
In 1990 the pro-European Union forces triggered a leadership vote in opposition to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Even though Thatcher won a majority of the vote, but needed a second ballot to get a bigger majority, she ended up deciding to leave.
If May wins the vote, will her political operatives spin the tale that she won a great victory and is staying on as Prime Minister?
Stay tuned.....
The pro-deal folks are attempting to get the EU (this morning) to come around on a ‘new’ deal. Over last week, the EU hype was NO more deals, or new talks....what was on paper, is the end of the discussion. They figured that May could carry this to the end. Based on Sky and BBC chatter this AM, I’d say May might survive this confidence vote, but it’ll be like a three to five vote margin.
Britain needs to grow a pair and walk away. Give the EWwww the middle finger and breathe free. USA will reward their courage.
Now living only one time zone away, I was able to watch her speech live. It was about 80% platitudes and 20% lies. But her minions are busy playing the "fear" card: dump me and you will get chaos.
A certain Roman tried that: "Aut Caesar aut nullus" Didn't work. A Bourbon king tried it a bit later: "Apres moi le deluge". Didn't work then either.
History tells us that this tactic will ensure her downfall. I hope history is right.
But the Germans (of all regions) have had a thing about destroying Europe for 100+ years...so none of this should be a surprise.
