But we all knew that his grades and test scores were poor.
Harvard must have known that, too.
But they took him anyway.
That's their choice. It's on them.
If they're going to take somebody who is widely known to be underqualified it would be stupid if there were fraud or bribery involved.
Plus, they have an out: he has a "learning disability" but has "distinguished himself" in other ways.

I don’t think they advertise that way...at least when my kids were applying for college.

What motivated him!.......( or WHO)
....especially since he failed to get in the 2 or 3 colleges he DID apply to.
To: BobL
Of course they didn’t.
but the seats are apportioned.

"Its sad to see young Davids parents setting him up for social condescension and academic failure. If the SAT ranges reported in connection with the Asian students discrimination case are accurate, David wont be academically alone at Harvard, but hell be deep in affirmative action territory. Hell probably end up majoring in virtue signaling. Its a bad decision by his parents. His score, while not exciting, is somewhat above average. He would be a fine candidate at a solid state university, where he could succeed academically on his own merits."Agreed. But I'd say young David's parents failed him long ago.

I can almost guarantee that he didn't bribe them- he threatened and bullied them. That's his M.O. He certainly didn't get in on his own merits...

Perhaps if we’re lucky the students will look at each other wondering who bought their way in versus who earned their way in and the infighting will be delicious. Hopefully they just destroy each other.

One has to ask what Hoggs plans were prior to the Parkland shootings. Did he aspire to Harvard before the shootings or did he take advantage of the fame he received off of the backs of the dead students. Wonder what he would be doing now if there hadnt been a school massacre.

My kid (white - not faux native American like some in the Harvard tradition) went to Harvard and graduated summa cum laude. Did NOT get in due to political correctness (of course that was almost 30 years ago) and got no financial aid.
How can something be a "scholarship" if it's not based on academic achievement but based on the parents financial situation? Until I told them to FO and leave me alone (about 20 times in a row) my old undergraduate institution (not Harvard) used to call me on a regular basis wanting me to donate money to a scholarship fund. Every time I would ask them is this means tested? and the answer was always yes help some deserving kid go to "Screw U" My next question was if you're segregating kids based on lack of parental responsibility and industry why should I help someone who is probably NOT in the group of best scholars, but only in the top group of students whose parents didn't have the foresight and financial discipline to provide for their kid's college education and having been raised in that atmosphere is probably also lacking in financial discipline. That usually left them spluttering.

Academically Harvard is a joke. Nobody fails anymore. It’s a big party now. Once in you are part of the club. The profs are in on it too.

Come on, he was accepted so that Harvard could make a political statement on gun control, not because of this scandal.

The profs must be in on it. They keep passing them once they get in. All should be fired.
