Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez complained Sunday that GOP fact-checkers were taking her “dry humor” literally.
“This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and ‘fact check’ it,” she tweeted. “Like the ‘world ending in 12 years’ thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal. But the GOP is basically Dwight from ‘The Office’ so who knows.”

And when Ocasio-Cortez first made the claim, she certainly appeared to be playing up the absurdity of the statement for effect.

Well, her proposed GND certainly was way too ambitious and got laughed right out of 'deleted' fate.
The old ‘you took my joke seriously’ retreat.
She meant it seriously. We have heard the exact same thing from climate folks that are deadly serious.
And enlighten me funny girl, if its such a sarcastic joke, why 12 years? Why did you pick that particular number? Whats so funny about that?

She was NOT using “dry humor” when first she said this crap; she was just repeating garbage. Now that she has been called out about it and laughed at...she’s making excuses. It just won’t wash; we all know that she’s an idiot!
