A new petition has been started to have the White House correct a wrong assumption about the Second Amendment on its website.
The website says: "The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to bear arms."
The petition asks the White House to correct the mistake and to acknowledge the reality of how the Second Amendment was created, and why.
The petition is here.
The reality is the right to keep and bear arms was acknowledged and widely accepted to be in existence long before the Second Amendment.
What the government can grant, the government can take.
The Second Amendment does not grant the right. The Second Amendment protects the existing right.
The petition can be signed at the link. I just signed it, and I suggest you do the same.
The major weapon of those who want us disarmed is their ability to define terms and frame the debate.
This is a way to stop their propaganda about the nature of our government.
They have tried to change the assumptions of the nature of rights.
Accept their assumptions, and we have lost three fourths of the battle.

Definitions are important.
The full title would not fit, so I shortened it in parenthesis.
A lot of people think the first ten amendments are a “Bill of Rights.”
Totalitarian regimes grant “bills of rights”.
But America is founded on the truth that man is born with God-given rights and freedoms. Man and his government does not grant rights and freedoms.
The first ten amendments are simply a statement to government to NOT ABRIDGE those God-given rights and freedoms.
It’s already in the Constitution as part of the Preamble of the Bill of Rights. The BOR are declared, not granted, and the government is restricted from infringing on them.
“THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.”
YES!
The Constitution’s and the Bill of Right’s only purpose is to PROTECT OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHTS FROM THEM, THE RULING ELITES.
Congress shall make no law....
You are pulling our leg here, right?
The right to keep and bear arms is RECOGNIZED by the 2nd Amendment, it is a God given right, pre-existing the Constitution.
I’ve heard President Trump say as much, I’m surprised it is posted like it is.
Well, not really, it was probably worded that way by some bureaucrat that thinks the Constitution gives us rights.

You are right that the language war is about control and that definitions matter. In that vein, i question the framing of the article.
The Second Amendment does not grant us the right to own guns.
The Second Amendment restricts the government from taking them away.
Its the philosophical difference between the government granting us rights and the Constitution restricting governments ability to infringe on us. Obama was right when he said the Constitution is a document of negative rights. He was wrong in inferring this was a bad thing.
The framers realized that they could never enumerate everything a government could do for people. Instead, they focus specifically on the few things government must do and otherwise, what government isnt allowed to do to you.
Its really no wonder that the liberals hate the Constituion as a true reading of it would stop them from doing virtually everything they want to do.
Remember, America is founded on the premise of the Declaration of Independence that man is born with certain unalienable rights ["among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"].
God created man with expansive rights - NOT some piddly "bill of rights" from man and his government. On the other hand, government 's power and rights are ABSOLUTELY LIMITED by the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended.
The Constitution flips the government-loving Leftists on their head. That is why they HATE the Constitution and want to destroy it and America.
You are pulling our leg here, right?
No, not pulling anybody's leg. That is the actual preamble to The Bill of Rights.
Congress OF THE United Statesbegun and held at the City of New-York, on Wednesday the fourth of March, one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.
THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution:
RESOLVED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, two thirds of both Houses concurring, that the following Articles be proposed to the Legislatures of the several States, as amendments to the Constitution of the United States, all, or any of which Articles, when ratified by three fourths of the said Legislatures, to be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of the said Constitution; viz.
ARTICLES in addition to, and Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, proposed by Congress, and ratified by the Legislatures of the several States, pursuant to the fifth Article of the original Constitution.12
Attest,
John Beckley, Clerk of the House of Representatives.
Sam. A. Otis Secretary of the Senate.Frederick Augustus Muhlenberg Speaker of the House of Representatives.
John Adams, Vice-President of the United States, and President of the Senate.
Yes, that is what the petition is attempting to have the White House acknowledge.
Done
Another way of putting it is in America...
- The federal government doesn’t delegate rights to the people (the first ten amendments are NOT a “Bill of Rights”),
- The people delegate rights to the federal government via the Constitution.
Good points.
Have you ever watched Hillsdale College course on the Constitution? (But I’m not sure you need too!)
I’ve had a lot of time to think, pray, read, and go to law school (where the Constitutional Law classes do NOT teach you the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended, but what the Courts have said, which since 1900 has had little to do with the actual Constitution).
God bless.

True. Control of linguistics is very important. So is control of government. Lobbyists and enormous contributions through a powerful organization are very important towards that end, as we’ll see in 2020.
Some of you will find this collection of information very helpful, if you read it carefully.

“where the Constitutional Law classes do NOT teach you the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended, “
Oh Lordy. Krushchev said that they would get us from within. And he may be right.
I wish Trump (in his spare time, LOL) would dissolve Fed control of public schools (common core). It’s a start. Sweden (the socialist paradise according to the left) ended it there.
Universities. I don’t know how much indoctrination was going on when I went. My college curriculum was STEM based in the late 70’s and you don’t hear a lot of SJW stuff in your Calculus class. I don’t know how to stop it in those cesspools.
