George Orwell was a brilliant individual. A man of incredible insight and foresight.
In his unfathomably predictive novel 1984, Orwell warns of Big Brother:
(O)stensibly the leader of Oceania, a totalitarian state wherein the ruling party Ingsoc wields total power for its own sake over the inhabitants.
In the society that Orwell describes, every citizen is under constant surveillance by the authorities, mainly by telescreens. The people are constantly reminded of this by the slogan Big Brother is watching you: a maxim that is ubiquitously on display.
In modern culture, the term Big Brother has entered the lexicon as a synonym for abuse of government power, particularly in respect to civil liberties, often specifically related to mass surveillance.
As brilliant as Orwell was, something continuously struck me as incorrect as I read 1984.
Orwells government was extraordinarily competent in its totalitarian imposition of technological power.
In Reality no government in the history of man has ever been even remotely close to that competent.

Maybe is is just one article where RedState isn't attacking President Trump directly? I'll have to re-read it. I just skimmed it.
This is some scary stuff
Yes I said STUFF
Do you all WANT me to be banned?!?!! :)
The internet giants are ready and willing to assist leftist governments as they extend their fascist grip on the people.
A government-private partnership. The “private” corporation gets special legal protections from litigation and other lucrative benefits from having protection from competition.
In return, the private businesses execute policies forbidden to government such as domestic surveillance, suppression of dissent and instituting censorship.
Mussolini would be proud.
WTF! I don’t know who my fellow Americans are anymore.

Lots of cool technology. I’ve even spent many years being part of it. Like barcode-label printers that encode RFID chips (didn’t program that particular machine but one of its predecessors). One of my internal users had one of the RFID machines. I had a label but didn’t hang on to it.
Yes, your package of hamburger meat or chicken, each unique by weight and price (most often) will have an RFID chip on the label. Trust me, the technology is already here and is being used in some places.
From my standpoint and experience from working inside Microsoft for 4 years they are more than happy to take government money. The program I was in had every 3 lettered agency there and the MS groups involved were all chomping at the bit to get the contracts, business and worse the notoriety of doing business with these agencies. I think the ethics of companies has gone right out the window and in the race to get to the top and grab as much money as possible they forgot to ask one question .should we.
Meanwhile, elsewhere....
{{{{{Russian journalist is charged with ‘controlling minds’ and ‘affecting the human subconscious’ by referencing Orwell’s 1984 novel in an article}}}}}
(might as well do a prophecy ping since I’ve already gone full tinfoil....sorry for a few double-pings)
Lots of places have learned - make big money from gubmint contracts
“From my standpoint and experience from working inside Microsoft for 4 years they are more than happy to take government money. “
And in return, they happily do things the government wants done like censorship, suppression of dissent, surveillance that would be illegal for government...etc.
A fascist partnership.

From the article above:
[Romanov’s editor told the publication: ‘This is a story about how anyone can be squashed by the government machine.
‘It’s also about how Big Brother is watching, reading all comments on online forums.’]
Sounds like forums on your local liberal media or “social media” sites..../adjusts tinfoil
Even your “new cars” track you these days.
There’s not much anybody can do to get away from The Mark.
