Loggers expect to come across some things when they cut down trees. Birds nests and things stuck in the branches seem like a given a mummified dog in the center of a tree, however, does not.
But thats exactly what a team of loggers with the Georgia Kraft Corp. found while cutting down a tree in the 1980s.

Dog Log Ping !
What a crap way to die.
Fascinating story. Poor pooch.
What a horrible way to go. Poor pup. Scared to death, frantically tried to claw his way out upwards, and finally, exhaustion and died of thirst. Unless fright gave him a heart attack.
The tree did not grow around him. It is likely he was chasing something into a rotted out middle of the tree and went up high enough to get stuck.
Ive cut down plenty of trees rotted out in the middle enough to fit beagles into. Although, beaglesdumb as they areare too lazy to actually climb.
Like the guy that fell into a space behind a Refrigerator Unit and the person who died trying to go down the Chimney like Santa Claus.
Jurassic Bark Futurama. Sad.
That was in Gremlins .
Poor Stuckie. That is probably just how it happened.
A young, over energetic hunting dog starts chasing some varmit. The squirrel zips through a hole in the bottom of the tree trunk. The dog quickly follows his quarry up into that tree trunk. The squirrel escapes capture and moves on into the narrow inner sanctums of the tree.
The much bigger dog gets wedged inside the trunk and cannot back out.
An older, more experienced hunting dog may have resisted going into the trunk, choosing instead, to sit and start barking at the prey.
Poor pup... my heart goes out to him. I agree, likely he was chasing a squirrel and got wedged inside... only to die of thirst.
“Although, beaglesdumb as they areare too lazy to actually climb.”
You shut yer whore mouth, boy! LOL
They ain’t stupid, just... um.. Well, you know.. C’mon man!
I beg to differ, trees do grow up, as well as out. a tree that I planted in my front yard 30 years ago was about 2 feet tall, it is now about 50 feet tall. It’s trunk has also “grown out” by getting thicker in the same period.
“That was in Gremlins .”
It happens in real life too.

Sorry, but can’t resist...
I’m sure he would have preferred the far more pleasant way that a dog can get stuck. :P
Exactly, that was my point.
Some stupid Burglars died this way. I remember there was a Missing Person Case solved when a body was found in a Chimney during a House Demolition or Renovation.
Hell of way to die.
I grew up with Beagles and German Shepards. It was the funniest “mutt and jeff” team you could imagine.
And for the past thirty years, we’ve had several beagles...
They are great dogs...but damn...put them on a rabbit scent and they are gone for a week.
True. But all bets are off if you stuck a fresh donut up there first.
