Democrats Join Calls For Schumer To ‘Step Down’ After Threatening Supreme Court Justices

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) attacked Chief Justice John Roberts and issued a warning to the Court in a statement released by his spokesman Justin Goodman Wednesday afternoon in response to Roberts rebuking Schumer for threatening Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh at a pro-choice protest rally in front of the Supreme Court building Wednesday morning while inside the justices heard arguments on a Louisiana abortion law case, June Medical Services LLC v. Russo.

Schumer had screamed his threat, “I want to tell you, Gorsuch! And I want to tell you, Kavanaugh! You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price! You won’t know what hit you! If you go forward with these awful decisions…”

Schumer continues to face intense backlash for iresponsible actions. A member of the U.S. Senate has now indicated that he intends to introduce a measure to censure Schumer.

Sen. Josh Hawley’s (R-MO) office released the following statement:

“Now @chuckschumer is threatening Supreme Court Justices personally, to the point of implying their physical safety is endangered. Disgusting, shameful, and frankly, WEAK,” Hawley wrote on Twitter. “I would call on Schumer to apologize, but we all know he has no shame. So tomorrow I will introduce a motion to censure Schumer for his pathetic attempt at intimidation of #SupremeCourt.”

Roberts replied in his remarkable written statement, obtained by Fox News: “This morning, Senator Schumer spoke at a rally in front of the Supreme Court while a case was being argued inside. Senator Schumer referred to two Members of the Court by name and said he wanted to tell them that ‘You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You will not know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.’”

Roberts continued: “Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. All Members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter.” [Fox News]

There are also two public Democrats, Jimmy Williams, a senior adviser to Tom Steyer and liberal law professor Lawrence Tribe, who are also slamming Schumer’s threats:

Schumer forgot to keep his emotions in check and will pay for his words.

You can mark my words, yesterday he finally ended his political career as a failed, good for nothing politician.

Schumer committed 2 felony counts of 18 U.S. Code § 115.
This law was put in place to protect federal judges from the mafia.

Schumer’s crimes must be taken seriously if we are to continue to be a nation of laws. The DOJ has no choice but to act.

18 U.S. Code § 115. Influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a Federal official by threatening or injuring a family member

(a)
(1) Whoever— […]

(B) threatens to assault, kidnap, or murder, a United States official, a United States judge, a Federal law enforcement officer, or an official whose killing would be a crime under such section,
with intent to impede, intimidate, or interfere with such official, judge, or law enforcement officer while engaged in the performance of official duties, or with intent to retaliate against such official, judge, or law enforcement officer on account of the performance of official duties, shall be punished as provided in subsection (b).

(b) […]
(4) A threat made in violation of this section shall be punished by a fine under this title or imprisonment for a term of not more than 10 years, or both, except that imprisonment for a threatened assault shall not exceed 6 years.

the senate should yank him as Minority Leader...that will be a big blow to his ego

Won’t fly. Schumer can claim he was talking about impeachment. Dems can impeach a SCOTUS. It was done once before with grounds being that he was Partisan.

Senate voted it down.

Step Down my Ass!!

Any Private regular Citizen that did this would have been Arrested and Charged with Making Criminal terrorist Threats, they would Denied Bail and held in Super Max, Everything they Owned would have Been SEIZED so they can Search ALL Communications and actions he has taken the last 5 years.

The man has no impulse control — a common trait among RATs. A crazed Donna Brazile screams “Go to hell!” to a person on national TV.

If he were an ‘employee’ of mine...as a minimum, I’d ask he go and do a anger-management class, and probably take a week off due to stress. The second time that he threatened anyone, I’d just ask the guards to escort him to the parking lot, and let the guy go.

All of this ‘being civil-type of behavior’ seems to have been lost. Even bringing in ladies to be Senators or House Members....hasn’t really done much good in the past fifty years.

Senator Schumers’ comments were way over the top. I do not exagerate when I say I am reminded of nazi-like targeting of groups or classes of people. Very ugly man these days. He should reign.

And yes, fire him as minority leader.
