Here's 'Anonymous,' Trump Aides Say. And Here's How They Outed Her.
RCP Investigation ^ | 4-15-2020 | Paul Sperry

Ever since a “senior official in the Trump administration” penned an anonymous 2018 New York Times column attacking President Trump as unfit for office, Washington has been engrossed in a high-stakes whodunit. After an exhaustive investigation, the White House believes it’s cracked the case, identifying Trump's turncoat as his former deputy national security adviser, Victoria Coates, according to people familiar with the internal probe.

Rather than fire Coates, the White House has quietly transferred her to the Department of Energy, where she awaits special assignment in Saudi Arabia -- far from the president.

Trump effectively demoted Coates just four months after promoting her last fall to the No. 2 spot on his National Security Council. The move was made amid a whisper campaign, started in January, that identified Coates as “Anonymous,” the person who wrote the Times Op-Ed and a subsequent book, “A Warning,” claiming to be part of a cabal of “fellow Republicans" resisting Trump and his policies from inside the administration.

The Washington press corps has for the most part been uninterested in learning the author’s identity. But the sources said the identification of Coates was based on circumstantial evidence generated from a months-long White House investigation led by sleuths within the NSC. Top White House adviser Peter Navarro, who works with the NSC on trade and other issues, also was heavily involved in the probe of Coates.

She declined to discuss the matter on the record with RealClearInvestigations and has retained an attorney, friends say, although several colleagues have rushed to her defense, insisting the White House has the wrong person. But a source involved in the NSC probe who asked not to be identified said there was little doubt. “It’s her,” the source said of Coates. “That’s why she was shown the door.”

This woman is obviously an ideologue. Therefore, she can’t be conservative. Conservatism is about PRUDENCE, COMMON SENSE, respect for the limitations of HUMAN NATURE.

She is a neo-conservative as they tend to be globalist ideologues.

She lives in a bubbled universe as it is obvious she does not see the forest, but is stuck behind a few trees.

If she understood national defense and foreign policy truly, she would have seen the destruction of America’s industries as a security risk and not just a social and economic tragedy.

I supported Trump instead of Cruz during the primary because I could easily ignore his packaging and see he was pro-America and prudent.

Cruz is an ideologue. I like him but he is not Prez material because he is more a purist like say Ben Shapiro, etc.

Ideology and what I call ‘bubbled’ are the ENEMY of America and Conservatism.

“Peter is a perfect fit for the Trump administration.”

The thought crossed my mind that Navarro might’ve been the one to deal with Fauci before Monday’s briefing. He’d be perfect.

That is true, but he keeps naming obvious scum.

Look at this bit on his latest NSA, named in September (from wikipedia):

“In October 2011, O’Brien was named to Mitt Romney’s advisory team as Co-Chair of the International Organizations Work Group.[15]

Later, in May 2015, he became an adviser on foreign policy and national security affairs for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s presidential campaign.[16][17] After Walker left the race, O’Brien advised Ted Cruz’s campaign.[17] During the time he advised Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign, he claimed: “It’s clear that Vladimir Putin just doesn’t like [Hillary Clinton], and is going to do what he can to help Donald Trump.”[18]”

>>> I have run into this problem with academics. They think that because they have some competence in one thing, usually something not practical, that they are superior to everyone. <<<

Not JUST the academia. Any company with a research branch with tons of Ph.D.’s, you get the same problem.

But, it’s not only just their degrees.

In cases after cases with anything remotely connected to politics/politicians, it is also WHO you know, who you are connected with (many times, married to), who you heavily $$$$ donated to, etc. etc.

And thus we have a Ph.D. in art history, through the connection to Ted Cruz, as No. 2 spot on Trump’s National Security Council. And because WH doesn’t want to upset Cruz, a Republican ally, by openly admitting their turn coat, and Victoria Coates awaits new assignment.

Makes me wonder about the people defending her. Of course Coates is going to tell them it’s not her. KT McFarland? I thought she had more sense than that. The article sounds presents a very good case for Coates being the traitor.

A young man with a degree in Marine Biology ended up running my engineering department, with a lot of senior engineers reporting to him, at Honeywell because his family had some connection with a highly placed director there. Can’t tell you what a joy that was.

Meh...holding foreign policy advisory positions with GOP Presidential candidates in no way disqualifies Robert O'Brien from his role as NSA, anymore than his pedestrian observation that 'Putin prefers Trump to Clinton' while advising Trump campaign rival Ted Cruz does.

O'Brien is way too busy cleaning house at the rat infested NSC to stab Trump in the back.

Related to Dan Coates?

I think her maiden name was Victoria Turn.

Now she goes by Victoria Turn-Coates.

Nobody heading up a Romney team should be in the Trump WH—let alone in the key NSA position. His first act as NSA was to bring “anonymous” in as his deputy.

I figured it would take the entirety of Trump’s first term to clean things up, and his second term would be much better.

Which is why they are now on to about the 5th of Schumer’s “7 ways from Sunday” to tank Trump for November.

My original choice was Cruz. But I am so glad Trump got elected.

Me too.

I dumped Cruz the night of the Chicago riots when he pissed down Trump's leg.

I sent $100 to Trump that night and sent an email to Cruz demanding all of my donations to be returned...Ha.

Lol...O’Brien advised Romney in 2011 when he was the GOP standard bearer against Obama, and more recently advised Walker and then Cruz in their Presidential campaigns. None of this disqualifies him from working for Trump.

As for Coates, it wasn’t O’Brien who brought her in to the NSC or make her the head of the Middle East and North Africa policy desk. For all we know, he and Trump promoted her to draw out more hidden traitors within the National Security apparatus.

Either way, Coates was dealt with and O’Brien is busy removing a large swathe of the deep state leakers at NSC. There is absolutely no reason to remove him at this time.

Your excuses are breath-taking.

And no, Trump shouldn’t move on to his 5th NSA right now, but it is anotherv= case of bad staffing he’s stuck himself with.

How did she get into NSC in the first place?

How do non-elected women in DC get ANY position?

First, they assume the position...
